Aditya Mehta became the first Indian player to make an official 147 break at the Arcaden Paul Hunter Classic in Germany.

Sadly for the world number 49, he could not capitilise on the momentum and fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Stephen Maguire in the last-32.

"It's an amazing feeling," said Mehta. "The balls opened up and I knew it was an opportunity by the time I was on 32. I've only made one 147 in practice and one in a match in India.

"I hoped one day I would be lucky enough to make one in a pro event and today it happened out of the blue."

Ronnie O’Sullivan coasted into the last-16 for the loss of a solitary frame as he beat Noppon Saengkham 4-0, Robbie Williams 4-0 and Barry Hawkins 4-1.

Judd Trump and Xiao Guodong also kept their hopes alive after nervy 4-3 victories over Mitchell Travis and Jamie Cope respectively, while Mark Allen eliminated teenager Luca Brecel to stay in the hunt.
