Brecel stays alive in Wuxi qualifying

Young star Luca Brecel's chances of qualifying for the Wuxi Classic remain alive after a narrow 5-4 win over Dechawat Poomjaeng in Sheffield.

The 17-year-old Belgian will now meet Jamie Burnett in the third of four qualifying rounds at the World Snooker Academy as players compete for a spot at the first ranking event of the season.

Sixteen players will progress from Sheffield to the tournament in China, which takes place at the end of June.

Joining proceedings at Thursday's third round stage will be the likes of Jimmy White, Steve Davis, Alan McManus and Matthew Selt.

The fourth and final round plays out on Friday.
