Just one shot separated Ben Llewellin from skeet shooting perfection after taking silver in a stunning World Cup final in New Delhi.

The Briton was forced into a dramatic play-off with Italy's Riccardo Filippelli in the gold medal final, with both firing a joint world record 59 out of 60 in normal competition.

He and Fillipelli were not the only shooters on top form however, with Argentina's Federico Gil also scoring 49 from 50 with just ten to fire, missing out because of his inferior qualifying score.

But the shoot-off proved just a step too far as a solitary error proved costly in a 4-3 defeat for the Welshman, though a silver medal in India was no bad way to round off his season.

In fact, it continued what has been a glistening few months for Llewellin, winning gold at the British Shooting Grand Final barely a few weeks ago.

Llewellin is hopeful of competing at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for Wales next year, though it's the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that are currently dominating his attentions.

And with this the second world silver of his career, the signs are there that those ambitions could become a reality in the near future.
