British Shooting announce new shotgun event
British Shooting has announced a new competition in the domestic shotgun calendar, to start later this year.
The British Shooting Shotgun Grand Final will be the first of its kind in the UK when it takes place from 6-8 October at Fauxdegla Shooting Ground in Wrexham, Wales.
The event will see the best GB shotgun shooters compete against one another, with the winner crowned the British Shooting Grand Final Champion.
Speaking about the latest addition to the shooting season, British Shooting Chief Executive, Hamish McInnes, said: "I'm delighted that British Shooting is putting on this exciting new event to give our leading shotgun athletes a top class competition to test themselves against the best in the country.
"We have been working really hard to ensure our athletes are as prepared as possible when shooting in ISSF competitions and the Shotgun Grand Final is just the start of a journey to help raise standards in competitions in the UK."
Fauxdegla Shooting Ground Owner, Mike Faux, added: "Fauxdegla is very proud to be hosting such an event and would encourage everyone to attend and enjoy watching champions at their best."
The competition will see the top 18 male and top 12 female Olympic trap shooters in the UK, and the top 12 male, and top 6 female athletes from Olympic skeet.
Both men and women will compete over 125 targets and the final, as well as the all-new mixed discipline which sees genders competing together.
The all-inclusive event will operate on a wide-ranging qualification basis, which will bring the best shooters in the UK together using an athlete’s three finishing placings taken from international and domestic events through 2017.
The competition will also be live streamed on social media in collaboration with UniLad Sport in the hope to boost coverage of the sport and reach new audiences.
