FULL TIME: Scotland 1-0 Slovakia. SCOTLAND HAVE GOT THE WIN THEY NEEDED!
This result will give Scotland a great platform to make the play-offs. But they have a minute left to see out. This result will put everything on Sunday's game away to Slovenia.
Scotland are now unashamedly winding down the clock. Phillips heads to the corner flag with one eye on the clock. There's not long left now. Scotland are minutes away from a huge win!
Four minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match!
- Own-goalMartin ŠkrtelSlovakia
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 1 (88 mins - Martin Skrtel OG) Slovakia 0. SCOTLAND HAVE SCORED! It's gone in! They've finally found the net! Anya got in behind ,getting a cross to the near post! Skrtel forced it home on the stretch under pressure from Martin!
Slovakia are now trying to see this game out by passing around the defensive line. But Scotland are pressing high and forcing them to boot it long. The hosts are going all in for this!
Time is running out for Scotland. They need a goal here. It's make or break. A goal puts them in pole position to make the play-offs. Anything less than a win means it's all but over.
It's all Scotland now. They are bombaring the Slovakian penalty area with cross after cross, but the away side are holding firm. They have been excellent, defensively. Excellent.
- OffKieran TierneyScotland
- OnIkechi AnyaScotland
Anya?! At a time like this, Strachan has thrown on Ikechi Anya?!
It's worth remembering that Slovakia are down to 10 men. They have played over an hour with 10 men. But they have looked organised at the back and it hasn't been a factor.
- OffDarren FletcherScotland
- OnJames McArthurScotland
And there's the change for Scotland. McArthur is now on for the Dark Blues.
- OffAdam NemecSlovakia

The former Rangers winger comes on for the home side. There's going to be a few changes here.
ROBERTSON SHOT IS SAVED! The Liverpool left back gets down the left channel and takes aim from a tight angle, but Dubravka makes another save to deny him. What a display.
Dubravka is having the game of his life here. Scotland have thrown everything they have at the Slovakian goalkeeper, but he has been in astonishing form. He's been the difference.
WHAT A SAVE! Morrison had the chance of the game from a matter of yards out, but Dubravka makes an incredible save! Everyone in Hampden thought that was the breakthrough!
OFF THE BAR! I can't believe it! Griffiths has hit the crossbar! Scotland are hammering on the door now. He struck the freekick from about 20 yards out but crashed the ball off the woodwork!
GRIFFITHS SHOT BLOCKED! The Celtic striker took down a long ball with a single touch, but his effort was blocked by the Slovakian defender who was charging out to him.
Slovakia have lost their way in the last 10 minutes or so and Scotland are building in confidence. The home side are cranking up the pressure. There's got to be a winner in this! There has to be!
Martin has been arguably the most maligned Scotland international of the last 10 years, but he was close to securing talisman status with a goal there on top of his winner against Slovenia.
CRASHED OFF THE BAR! Scotland were inches away from the opening goal there! Martin took aim from about 20 yards out, beating the goalkeeper, but crashing his shot off the woodwork!
Strachan still needs to make another change here. He might have given Scotland more of a presence in attack, but they need a supply line and that hasn't been in place all night long.
Scotland are cranking up the pressure now. They are slinging cross after cross into the Slovakian penalty area, but they just don't have the height to beat the likes of Skrtel in the air.
It opened up for Bannan! Robertson was on the overlap, dragging the defender away and giving Bannan the space for the shot. But he dragged his effort. No danger to the keeper.
Well, that was wild from Gregus, slashing his effort miles over the bar. But Scotland need to keep more of an eye on Hamsik. That's a few times that he has managed to drift free.
Scotland seem to have taken a grip of the game since the introduction of Martin. There appears to be more space for them in the centre of the pitch. More options for Fletcher and Bannan.
Fletcher is off for the moment receiving some treatment. There's blood pouring from the Stoke City midfielder's neck after an elbow. He's patched up and back on the pitch, now.
WHAT A STRIKE! Incredible strike from Griffiths! The Scotland striker freed up some space for the shot about 20 yards out, but despite it moving in the air, Dubravka makes the save.
BIG SAVE FROM GORDON! Gregus had space down the right channel, hitting it first time. But the Scotland goalkeeper stood tall and made the save with his feet to deny him.
LOBOTKA STRIKE! Slovakia look dangerous on the counter attack, with Lobotka hitting an effort from about 20 yards out. There was power on that, but it was straight at Gordon.
What a double challenge from Skrtel! Just for a moment, it looked like Phillips was about to break into the final third on the counter attack, but the former Liverpool man stopped him.
That's a relief for Scotland and Strachan. Robertson is back on and has his hand bandaged up. The Liverpool left back wasn't about to let that cut short his evening. Not a bit of it.
Forrest took a high ball down on the edge of the box, but the Celtic winger slices his shot wide of the target. He was under pressure from at least three defenders charging him down.
Robertson is down receiving treatment. This could be a real concern for Scotland, although it seems to be a problem with his hand. He's been one of Scotland's best players.
It's got a bit tense inside Hampden Park. The home fans know what's on the line here. Scotland need three points and there is an apprehension in their play at the moment.
It's bizarre how Slovakia look so much better since the sending off. They are more compact and are playing on the counter attack more effectively. Scotland have a lack of pace.
GRIFFITHS HEADER! Surely the Celtic striker had to square that. He got on the end of the cross into the box, but he had Bannan unmarked alongside him. He headed at goal himself instead of knocking it down.
Forrest has arguably been Scotland's most dangerous player so far this evening. They need more players who are willing to take on opponents and get in behind. Far too static since the sending off.
Robertson gets the cross into the box, finding the run of Phillips at the near post, but it was a difficult one for him to control and he could only flick the ball well over the crossbar.
Bannan has played well in the centre of the pitch for Scotland, but they look too slow to move the ball into the final third. They need some energy and drive in there. Not another striker!
There was a suggestion that Scotland might make a change at the break, but it hasn't happened. They need someone in midfield who can break into the penalty area. Armstrong, basically...

The second half is under way! It's still goalless between Scotland and Slovakia.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Scotland 0-0 Slovakia. Well, that was an entertaining half of football, but strangely, Scotland were better before the sending off of Mak. Slovakia look more compact with 10 men.
There was a lack of communication there. Robertson started the run and Bannan put it into the channel for him, but for some reason the Liverpool left back stopped his run early.
Scotland finally have the ball again and Fletcher and Morrison are trying to pick a way through. Slovakia are back in numbers and in the end the cross from Phillips is caught by Dubravka.
Indeed, Slovakia are knocking the passes around now. They aren't going anywhere, but the visitors don't look like they're going to concede either. They just need a draw. This will suit them.
It does feel like Slovakia are slightly more together since the sending off. They are more composed and appear to be better organised at the back. The tension is beginning to build.
GRIFFITHS TAKES AIM! The Celtic striker cut inside and angled a left-footed strike towards goal, but Dubravka dives to his right to make the save. Griffiths couldn't have done much more.
Another dodgy moment for Scotland as Lubotka stretches the backline and lays the ball back to the edge of the box. Fletcher did just enough to block the shot and then the flag was raised.
LUBOTKA ALMOST IN! Slovakia were almost in there, with Lubotka playing a nice one two to get into the box. But Tierney did so well to get goal side and make the intervention.
Where Scotland could be doing better is in getting in behind. Strachan could make a change to stretch the pitch. They need to make the most of their man advantage in the wide areas.
They need to remain patient though. There's still plenty time for Scotland to get the goal they so desperately need. They need to be composed and considered in their attacking play.
Scotland are still pressing really high on Slovakia. This has been an impressive opening half from the hosts, but Strachan will be concerned that they haven't made the breakthrough yet.
Griffiths' deliveries need to be much better than that. He had the chance to swing one in from the right side, but there was far too much weight on it and the keeper was free to collect.
- Yellow cardMarek HamšíkSlovakia
In all the madness before the red card, there was also a yellow card for Hamsik. And one for Kucka too!
Mak was still complaining about the decision as he walked down the tunnels, but he has no grounds for argument. He took a dive and the referee spotted it. Did he know he was on a booking?
Oh boy. It's advantage Scotland now. They have 11 men on the park to Slovakia's 10. It can be difficult to play against 10 men, but the hosts will be hoping that's not the case tonight.
- Red cardRóbert MakSlovakia
SENT OFF! Mak has been shown a second yellow card for taking a dive. Indeed, the replays show that he threw himself to the ground trying to win a penalty from Gordon. Right decision.
BERRA HEADER! I think most inside Hampden thought that was in! Berra gets on the end of a Griffiths cross, but Dubravka gets across to make a magnificent save to deny him!
Griffiths gets his set piece delivery right for the first time this evening! Berra gets on the end of it, but his header is blocked. Scotland are knocking hard now. They are really knocking.
- Yellow cardRóbert MakSlovakia
That was a really late challenge on Forrest and this gives Scotland a freekick in a good position out wide.
MORRISON SHOT! Bannan wins the ball inside the opposition half, passing to Forrest who lays it off to Morrison. He scuffs his shot somewhat, but Griffiths couldn't force it home.
Forrest hasn't really got himself involved in the game yet. He will be crucial if Scotland are to get in behind the Slovakian defence. He has been in excellent form for Celtic this season.
For the first time this evening. Fletcher has to turn back after a lack of options ahead of him. That's where Scotland will miss Brown. He can charge forward in a way Fletcher can't.
After a whirlwind start to the match, Scotland are now taking the chance to regain control, calm things down and knock the ball around the middle of the pitch. They are in charge.
Griffiths almost forces Dubravka into a mistake, pressing high on the Slovakian goalkeeper after a back pass. But Bannan couldn't make the most of the scuffed clearance.
Hamsik will be the danger man for Slovakia. He is their biggest threat in the final third and it's obvious that Scotland are aware of that. They have a marker on the Napoli man at all times.
Scotland have started very well. They're the ones pinging the passes around, probing on the edge of the opposition penalty area. Slovakia are pinned back and playing on the counter.
Replays show that was a strong shout for a penalty kick from Tierney. The Slovakian defender got nowhere near the ball. He simply barged the Celtic full back to the ground.
PENALTY SHOUT! Tierney drives down the outside, forcing his way into the Slovakian penalty box. He is forced to the ground but the referee waves away his claims for a penalt.
Scotland are just beginning to take a grip of this game. The passes are flowing and Slovakia are having to dig deep to keep the hosts out. They are knocking at the door!
WHAT A BALL! Robertson takes a freekick early, catching out the Slovakian backline. It was a fantastic delivery, but Griffiths just couldn't get on the end of it. What vision from the left back!
Already getting the feeling that Bannan will be central to Scotland's play this evening. He has been playing well at club level so far this season, forcing his way into the Scotland lineup for tonight.
Looks like a slippy pitch at Hampden this evening. It also looks like it might be close to a sell out. Home crowds have been disappointing for a while, but not tonight. This is a big one.
Scotland are playing in their away kit this evening, which is slightly unusual. The white sleeves on their home kit clashed with Slovakia's white kit and so that's why they're wearing pink.
This one matters. Scotland must win tonight if they are to stand a chance of qualifying for the play-offs. Win and they will only need a result against Slovenia on Sunday to get there.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Scotland against Slovakia.
Of course, the task for Scotland is simple - they must beat both Slovakia and Slovenia on Sunday. But just beacuse it's simple doesn't mean that it will be easy. It all comes down to this.
So the big team news for Scotland is that with Brown and Armstrong out injured, Fletcher and Bannan come into the midfield alongside Morrison. Not exactly inspiring, I must say...
