Zinedine Zidane says Gareth Bale was left out of Real Madrid’s squad to face Manchester City because he didn’t want to play.

Two transfer targets are in action in the Europa League shortly.

Kai Havertz, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and Alfredo Morelos, who could be set to join Lille, start for Bayer Leverkusen and Rangers respectively.

17:10 - City want £30m for Garcia

Manchester City have reportedly set their asking price to Barcelona for defender Eric Garcia.

Pep Guardiola revealed earlier today that Garcia does not want to sign a new deal at City.

Rather than see him leave on a free next summer, the Evening Standard say City want £30m for the youngster - an upfront fee of £20m, with a further £10m in add-ons.

16:40 - Liverpool 'submit Lewis offer'

Liverpool have submitted a £10m bid for Norwich left-back Jamal Lewis, according to The Athletic.

The Merseyside club are also said to have offered the Canaries a substantial sell-on clause for the Northern Ireland international.

The 22-year-old made 32 appearances for Norwich last season.

15:50 - Arsenal 'on the brink' of new Aubameyang contract

Arsenal believe they are on the brink of agreeing a new three-year contract with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, report The Telegraph.

Aubameyang is said to have reached a verbal agreement with the Gunners and the new deal would see the Gabon international, who has scored 70 goals in 109 appearances for them since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, stay on until 2023.

15:43 - Ferran Torres explains Man City move

Spanish winger Ferran Torres said Valencia's failure to hand him the captain's armband and make him one of their highest-paid players were key factors in his decision to join Manchester City.

The 20-year-old joined the Premier League side on a five-year contract this week for a fee reported to be around €23 million.

"I wanted to stay and I put forward the conditions to do so. They weren't above the club's means," Torres told Spanish newspaper Marca.

"One was for owner Peter Lim to be involved in contract negotiations so that I knew I was important, another was to be captain ... The third was to be one of the highest paid players. I wanted two of the three, but none were fulfilled."

15:18 - David Silva 'close to Lazio move'

David Silva is close to joining Lazio, reports Sky Sports Italy.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that negotiations between the Serie A club and the Manchester City midfielder are going well.

Tuttosport reports the Serie A side have offered him a deal worth £52,000 a week which includes his own private jet and a luxury pad in the heart of Rome... which all sounds rather lovely.

14:22 - Garcia wants to leave Man City

Some big news coming out of Manchester City this afternoon.

Their 19-year-old centre back Eric Garcia does not want to sign a new contract at the club, boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed at a news conference today.

Garcia, who joined City from Barcelona’s academy in 2017, has one year remaining on his current deal at the Etihad and could leave on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Barcelona are reportedly very keen on the defender and this perhaps explains why City have just signed Nathan Ake. Garcia made 13 City appearances last season.

According to Mundo Deportivo last week, the Spain U21 international is being considered by Barca as a long-term replacement to complement Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique.

14:02 - Club-by-club guide: Tottenham to Wolves

In the latest edition of our club-by-club guide, we take a look at the business Tottenham, West Brom, West Ham and Wolves could be doing this summer.

13:31 - Jose Mourinho has a new assistant

Ledley King has been appointed First Team Assistant at Tottenham.

Head Coach Jose Mourinho said: “I am extremely pleased to be welcoming Ledley into the first team group as we continue our preparations for the new season.

“He has a tremendous affinity with this football club and the fans appreciate just how much he has accomplished as a true Spurs man both on and off the pitch.

“We have developed a good relationship since I arrived, and we hope to use his experience and insight to support the work we are doing with the squad.”

King spent 13 years of his playing career at Spurs before retiring in 2012. Since then he has been a club ambassador at the north London club.

13:26 - Some developments at Southampton

13:14 - Valencia make contact with Watford's Suarez

Valencia, now managed by former Watford boss Javi Gracia, have reportedly made contact with striker Luis Suarez through his super agent Jorge Mendes.

The 22-year-old Colombian striker was loaned out to Real Zaragoza from the Hertfordshire club last season, before he was recalled to England earlier this week.

Suarez scored 19 goals in 39 appearances for the Segunda Division side and had his Zaragoza loan terminated ahead of their play-off matches next week.

12:50 - Dortmund interested in 'new Sancho'

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing 15-year-old Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Manchester City, report Bild.

Bynoe-Gittens is being dubbed "the next Jadon Sancho“ in Germany and is a player Dortmund potentially see as a long-term successor to the 20-year-old should he join Manchester United this summer.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are also reportedly interested in Bynoe-Gittens.

12:29 - 'Gabriel would suit the Premier League'

Arsenal are in talks to sign highly-rated defender Gabriel from Lille and he would suit the Premier League perfectly, says our transfer expert at Eurosport France.

Despite Napoli's supposed interest, the 22-year-old has reportedly decided he wants to join the north London club.

We explore the deal 👇

12:05 - 'AC Milan tracking Aurier'

AC Milan are looking for a right-back and at the moment their two main targets are Tottenham's Serge Aurier and PSV's Denzel Dumfries.

Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that both players have already made it known a Milan move would be appealing.

Milan are also reportedly keen to bolster their midfield and are said to have contacted 20-year-old Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis' entourage.

Alternatively Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko could return on loan.

11:47 - A tough time for Sanchez at Utd

Alexis Sanchez netted 80 goals in three-and-a-half years at Arsenal, but he failed to reach those heights in Manchester under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Barcelona man had said last year that he had no regrets about joining United but wished he had played more minutes, even as fans were left frustrated by his performances and lack of goals.

While he did not return to his prolific best at Inter, he did turn provider to top the club's charts with eight assists as they finished runners-up behind Juventus.

United are already working towards signing Sanchez's replacement, with the club being linked with Borussia Dortmund's promising 20-year-old forward Jadon Sancho.

11:16 - Eurosport France on Morelos

There's been plenty of speculation regarding the future of Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in recent weeks.

Rangers have reportedly rejected a €15m bid from Lille for Morelos. This is what our colleagues at Eurosport France have told us...

"Lille are close to signing Jonathan David from Belgian side Gent for €30m, a transfer record for the Ligue 1 club.

"After that, they want to sign Morelos, but negotiations have stalled with Rangers.

Lille offered 15 million, but Rangers wants more, around €20 million.

10:54 - Heracles sign De la Torre

Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo have signed 22-year-old American midfielder Luca de la Torre from Fulham.

De la Torre made just seven first-team appearances for the southwest London club since joining them as a 15-year-old in 2013.

He moves to Holland on a free transfer.

10:45 - Chong 'wanted by Werder'

Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong is wanted by German side Werder Bremen.

The 20-year-old winger signed a new deal to stay at Old Trafford, but the Sun reports that the Bundesliga club are keen to offer him first-team football. The move would likely be a loan, giving Chong the chance to get some game time next season.

Paper Round’s view: Chong offered very little when he appeared for United’s first team, but he has plenty of pace and is highly rated. Giving him the chance to develop elsewhere away from the pressure of the Premier League could be the best way for him to improve his game and to develop the confidence needed to succeed.

10:29 - 'We wish Alexis well'

Sanchez leaves Manchester United having scored just five goals for the club, since his swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in January 2018. As a result, he has relinquished the club's iconic number seven shirt.

"Everyone at Manchester United wishes Alexis Sanchez all the best in his future career as he joins Inter Milan on a permanent transfer," United said on their website.

10:05 - Official: Alexis Sanchez signs for Inter

Alexis Sanchez has joined Inter Milan on a three-year deal, both clubs have announced.

Alexis moved to the Serie A club on a season-long loan in August 2019, making 29 appearances and scoring four goals.

09:55 - Arsenal frontrunners for Gabriel

Despite Napoli's interest, 29-year-old Gabriel has reportedly decided to join Arsenal. According to La Voix du Nord, the Lille defender was "seduced" by the speech of the Gunners' leaders.

09:34 - Roma has new owners

American billionaire Dan Friedkin has signed a deal to purchase the Italian Serie A club AS Roma, the club said on Thursday.

Roma said formal contracts with the Friedkin Group were signed on Wednesday for a transaction valued at €591 million. The transaction is anticipated to close by the of the month.

"We have signed the contracts tonight and, over the coming days, will now work together to complete the formal and legal process that will result in the club changing hands," AS Roma president James Pallotta said in a statement.

09:23 - Arsenal continuing Willian pursuit

The Telegraph reports that Arsenal continue their pursuit of Chelsea winger Willian.

The North London club announced 55 redundancies on Wednesday, but they are still keen on persuading the 31-year-old Brazilian international to accept a three-year deal which could earn him more than the two years offered by his current club, once bonuses are taken into account.

Paper Round’s view: The manner in which Arsenal announced the redundancies was poorly handled, with fans mainly upset that owner Stan Kroenke had not put his hand in his pocket to keep the people in a job. As for the transfer, it seems a foolhardy amount of time to offer a winger, and it may be more to do with pleasing agents than finding the very best value for money for each transfer.

09:09 - Alexis Sanchez heading for Inter

Alexis Sanchez's permanent switch to Inter Milan will be confirmed imminently, according to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Yeah I believe so [Sanchez moving to Inter] and I can confirm that," he told BT Sport after his side's 2-1 Europa League win over LASK.

"Alexis has had a good time over there, he's a good player and we wish him all the best."

"It will be official tomorrow (Thursday) in the morning," Inter CEO Beppe Marotta told Sky Sports.

The player is completely ours and we have a three-year contract with him. We think he can be a full member of our squad.
