FULL TIME

Chelsea have done it! Eden Hazard's first-half penalty proves the difference, as the Blues claim their first FA Cup title since 2012.

Is this a parting gift to Anthony Conte? Time will tell, but for now it is party time for the Stamford Bridge faithful.

90'+4

United have a corner... but De Gea doesn't come forward.

Martial to take... straight into the arms of Courtois. And that should be that...

90'+3

OVER!

Pogba switches the play to Valencia, who delivers a dangerous cross into the box. It finds Matic but he fails to direct his header on target.

90'+2

As desperate as they are, United cannot get a hold of the ball. Time is running out.

88'

The United players are queuing up inside the penalty as Martial prepares to deliver a cross... but he chips it straight out of play. Disappointing.

Chelsea have the ball in the far corner, determined to waste as much time as they possibly can.

Here comes Mata, he replaces Jones for the three minutes of normal time.

85'

WIDE!

Sanchez has a pop from 25 yards out, but drags his shot wide. He wanted a corner, but he isn't going to get it.

Juan Mata is about to come on for United.

83'

SITTER!

Dear me, how has Pogba missed?! The Frenchman is left completely unmarked to meet Martial's corner delivery, but somehow heads wide from seven or eight yards out!

82'

Cahill drifts into a wide position to block Martial's cross. United have yet another corner...

81'

Azpilicueta manages to hack clear from the resulting corner. Chelsea are hanging on here - and nothing more.

79'

SAVE!

Pogba's cross is punched clear by Courtois. United recover possession in midfield, with Matic trying his luck from 25 yards... Courtois palms it behind for a corner.

77'

Tireless running from the incredible Kante as the former Leicester midfielder races back to dispossess Sanchez who was leading a United break.

75'

Jones is taped up for a cut above his eye and is back into the action.

There are now just 15 minutes remaining, can United find an equaliser or will Chelsea hold on for their first FA Cup victory since 2012?

74'

INJURY!

Jones and Giroud collide mid-air and both will need some treatment. There will be a stoppage in play.

DOUBLE UNITED CHANGE!

Lukaku and Martial come on for Rashford and Lingard.

72'

UNITED CHANCE!

Lingard's through-pass has Rashford racing in behind the Chelsea defence, but he shoots straight at the feet of Courtois from a tight angle.

71'

Again Michael Oliver consulted VAR, but his decision to award Chelsea just a corner hasn't gone down well with the Blues. It did appear to strike Young's hand.

70'

CHELSEA CHANCES!

Kante feeds Alonso who has a wonderful opportunity to double the Blues' advantage but can't beat De Gea with a shot from close range!

The loose ball falls to Moses on the by-line and is cross appears to come off Young's arm - but no penalty is the decision.

69'

Chelsea finally cross the halfway line, with none other than Hazard driving the Blues into United territory. His cross is cleared by Young though.

68'

LUKAKU IS COMING ON!

67'

Young is sent tumbling by Azpilicueta but Michael Oliver awards Chelsea the free-kick. The Chelsea defender isn't pleased with Young - he thinks the England international has gone down too easily.

66'

United have the Blues pinned inside their own half - and have done for some time.

65'

VAR IN ACTION!

Michael Oliver double-checks with VAR which confirms Sanchez was just offside.

64'

GOAL DISALLOWED!

Jones' header is palmed away by Courtois but into the path of Sanchez who bundles the ball over the line... but it won't count! The Chilean was marginally offside...

63'

Chelsea concede yet another free-kick, this time for a foul on Rashford on the right channel.

62'

Young has the beating of Moses again but then puts too much on his cross. Chelsea goal-kick.

61'

Mourinho had been all set to make a change, but then the 11 players he has on the pitch began to get their act together...

60'

Matic, against his former club, slices a shot wide from 25 yards.

58'

There has been a lot more endeavour from United in the second period - they are moving the ball much quicker and the momentum has shifted in their favour.

  • Antonio Valencia

57'

Valencia is booked for a foul on Hazard.

56'

UNITED CHANCE! Herrera releases Valencia but he cuts it back to no one... Fabregas then gifts it to Rashford whose venomous shot from 20 yards is pushed clear by Courtois!

54'

Young slices a cross and the pressure is relieved on Chelsea for now.

The Blues have had to do a lot of defending in the early stages of the second-half. United are on top at the moment.

53'

Rashford's delivery is dangerous - the slightest touch may have guided it in - but there's too much power for any of his team mates to make a connection and Courtois punches it clear.

52'

Not for the first time this afternoon Moses dives in on Young and concedes a free-kick on the left-flank.

United have all the big men forward and this is a real chance for an equaliser...

51'

Hazard returns to action and looks OK to continue. Meanwhile, Lukaku is warming up on the touchline.

50'

Michael Oliver stops play so that Hazard can receive some treatment after taking a knock to the face.

Replays show he was inadvertently caught by Smalling's elbow.

48'

United are now kicking towards their supporters at the west end of Wembley. Will they give the Old Trafford faithful a goal to celebrate this evening?

47'

There were one or two signs that United were improving at the end of the first half, and they have made a bright start to the second period, too.

46'

The second half is underway and it should be noted that neither manager made any substitutions at the interval.

Here's the goal that separates the sides at the interval...

HT

United break forward in numbers, with a lovely move involving Pogba and Rashford. But Rudiger gets back to make a crucial challenge on the latter just as he unloaded a shot from inside the box.

And that's half-time!

45'

WIDE!

Young clips a deep cross to the back post, finding Jones but the England defender doesn't get enough on his header and it goes wide!

Jones is desperate to make amends for his earlier mistake - and that's as close as United have come.

44'

Moses takes out Young on the left flank, and the Chelsea wing-back is fortunate not to be booked.

Rashford smashes the free-kick delivery into a packed penalty area, but it deflects behind for a corner.

42'

Mourinho has one massive team talk to give...

41'

Conte must be delighted with how Giroud has played in the first-half: the Frenchman has been aggressive and linked up really well with his team mates, bringing the likes of Hazard and Bakayoko into play.

40'

Giroud flicks on a long ball from defence, finding Alonso who forces a corner for Chelsea - their first of the game.

It's good goalkeeping from De Gea who punches the delivery away from danger.

38'

United force two consecutive corners, but Sanchez fails to test the Blues' rearguard on both occasions. Desperately poor from the Chilean.

37'
36'

After a lacklustre start, Mourinho has to contemplating a change in his system.

But for now he has other pressing matters, as Sanchez concedes a free-kick on the edge of his own penalty area... Fabregas can only smash his effort into the wall though.

35'

Mourinho cuts a frustrated figure on the touchline: his United side have barely laid a glove on this Chelsea defence.

Credit to Conte - the Italian's tactics and defensive shape has been absolutely spot on.

34'
32'

OVER!

Another United shot - but still they can't test Courtois. Sanchez rifles a shot from 25 yards which ends up in row-Z.

30'

WIDE!

United have been asking all of the questions since Hazard's opener, and they go close once more. Pogba is allowed space to have try a shot from 20 yards, but he fails to test Courtois, as he screws his effort wide.

28'

Lingard hasn't been involved as much as he would have liked to thus far.

He finally finds some space in between Chelsea's midfielder and defence but Kante is there to make a vital challenge just as the England international is about to unload a shot from 25 yards.

26'

GREAT DEFENDING! Rudiger makes an important header as he springs higher than Pogba to clear Sanchez's devilish cross over the bar.

24'

Just a reminder that VAR is in use this evening - and if Michael Oliver had used it, perhaps he would have sent Jones off.

23'

United give the ball away cheaply in midfield, it's really sloppy from Mourinho's side.

22'

GOAAAAALLLLL!

Hazard, cool as you like, sends De Gea the wrong way - Chelsea lead.

21'

PENALTY TO CHELSEA!

Hazard is released by a delicious Fabregas pass and Jones, desperately caught out defensively, slides in from behind, taking the Belgian out.

Michael Oliver shows him a yellow card, but should it have been red? Conte and the Chelsea players certainly believe so...

19'

It's just not sticking for United in attack at the moment.

18'

Sanchez goes on a darting run, trying to wriggle his way through a crowd of Chelsea players on the edge of the box. Cahill makes an excellent tackle though to win the ball back for Conte's side.

16'

And now United want a penalty! Moses is slipping and grapples with Sanchez - but there was minimal contact.

15'

Replays show Bakayoko tripped himself up, so the referee has got that decision spot on.

14'

PENALTY APPEAL!

Matic is caught on the wrong side of Bakayoko and appears to use both arms to bring the Chelsea midfielder down inside the penalty area. Michael Oliver isn't even slightly interested in the Blues' appeals though.

13'

United's left-back Young is found in an advanced position on the flank. He tries to find a team mate with an early cross but no one in red is close to meeting it and Courtois gathers.

11'

Moses plays a lovely ball into the feet of Giroud but the Chelsea forward had strayed marginally offside.

Conte will be pleased with how hard his side have broke up United's passing in midfield thus far.

10'

SHOT!

Hazard, making his 300th appearance for the Blues, races past Jones on the left-hand side of the box and rifles a shot from an acute angle, forcing De Gea into his first save of the match.

9'

United break quickly, with Lingard leading the charge. However, Kante brings the young England midfielder down and is fortunate not to receive a yellow card.

8'

Herrera is sticking close to Hazard: the United man will have been told by his manager to not allow the Belgian an inch.

7'

It has been a cagey opening and considering the styles of the respective teams, that is no surprise. One mistake or hopefully one moment of quality could decide this contest.

6'

United stroking the ball around in defence, trying to get a feel of the ball. They eventually move the ball into midfield where Rashford is dispossessed by the tireless Kante.

5'

Man United are appearing in a record-equalling 20th final. A 13th FA Cup win would see them equal Arsenal's record tally.

4'

Chelsea are appearing in their 13th FA Cup final and an eighth victory would take them joint third on the all-time list with Tottenham.

3'

Alonso surges down the left flank, winning the first free-kick of the game. Fabregas swings it in, but it's catching practice for De Gea.

2'

This is the third time these clubs have collided in the FA Cup final - meeting in 1994 and 2007 - with one win apiece.

KICK-OFF!

Manchester United get the 137th FA Cup final underway!

17:10

'Abide With Me' and the National Anthem set the tone for a poignant occasion - and now we are almost set for kick-off.

Stay with us for all of the excitement and drama!

17:05

There is a wonderful round of applause for the late Ray Wilkins, who died last month at the age of 61. Wilkins' widow, Jackie, will present the trophy to the winners from the Royal Box.

They are rivals today, but both sets of supporters have also unveiled banners for Wilkins - at opposite ends of the stadium.

17:00

There is only 15 minutes to kick-off, so let's have some stats to keep you ticking over...

* These sides have met in the FA Cup final on two previous occasions: Chelsea won 1-0 in 2007 after extra-time, while United won 4-0 in 1994.

* The 2007 final was the first FA Cup final to be played at the rebuilt Wembley and current United boss Mourinho was in charge of Chelsea.

* This is the eighth meeting in all competitions between these sides at Wembley. No two sides have met more often at the home of football.

16:55

Mourinho on Lukaku (per BBC Sport): "We made the decision Romelu Lukaku is not ready to start, maybe he is ready to give us a little help.

“We have changed Romelu Lukaku with Marcus Rashford. They are two different players, but he will play in the same position but with different qualities.”

Manchester United's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku reacts after missing a shot during a last 16 second leg UEFA Champions League football match between Manchester United and Sevilla at Old Trafford in Manchester, northwest England on March 13, 2018.
16:50

Chelsea defeated Southampton in the semi-final to secure their place at Wembley, as Conte hopes to land the club's first FA Cup trophy for the first time since 2012.

Meanwhile, Manchester United - who last won the famous old cup in 2016 - came from behind to beat Tottenham in the other semi-final - played at Wembley. Mourinho hasn't won the competition since 2006 - while managing Chelsea.

-

United may be relying on Sanchez this evening, but another former Gunner, Chelsea's French forward Olivier Giroud, could also influence the game.

-

The Chilean played a huge role in last year's FA Cup final - when Arsenal defeated Chelsea - and Alexis Sanchez will be hoping to have a similar impact this evening.

16:45

Conte has been talking about his future at Chelsea...

"It is very difficult to comment on speculation because there has been speculation around me from the start of the season, after the first game against Burnley.

"This speculation is not important to me because my focus is only to do my work in the best possible way with my players. I am doing this from the start until the end.

"There are only two weeks and this season will finish, and you will know if there is a different situation or if you see me again next season.

"In this decision there are always two parties to take the decision, not only one side. I like to work with my players to build something important but in our job the final result is very important."

-
16:40

Speaking to the media Mourinho tried his best to put a potential cup win into perspective...

"Of course it makes a difference, but it's one thing to make a difference and the other is to consider the season good or bad because of one match.

"I analyse the work I do, the effort I put in, and everything we all did at the club. I'm not going to analyse them because of one - of course very important - match."

16:35

Having finished an astonishing 19 points behind Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title, the relationship between United supporters and Mourinho isn’t exactly at an all-time high either. The Portuguese’s style of football has been bemoaned for much of the season while results have been far from perfect, particularly against the lower teams in the division. A victory this afternoon would at least mark some improvement under the 55-year-old who could argue a fourth trophy in two years is indeed a sign of real progress.

Jose Mourinho does not expect Sir Alex Ferguson’s health scare to negatively impact his side against West Ham (John Walton/EMPICS)
16:30

Largely expected to be Antonio Conte’s final game in charge of the Blues, the Italian has an opportunity to mark his departure with a farewell gift to the Stamford Bridge faithful. Conte’s failure to deliver Champions League football has left many with a sour taste in the mouth, but getting one over United – and nemesis Jose Mourinho – will help to smooth tensions between manager and fans.

Conte
16:25

Meanwhile, Giroud is given the nod in Chelsea's attack ahead of Spain striker Morata, while Bakayoko features in midfield with Willian having to make do with a place amongst the substitutes.

Alonso and Moses are the wing-backs, while Hazard will play a supporting role in behind Giroud.

16:22

So there you have it, Lukaku is only fit enough to make the substitute's bench with Rashford drafted in to start in United's attack.

Jones and Smalling are included in the defence, while Matic, Herrera and Pogba are the key men in midfield.

Jose has a strong bench, with Martial and Mata to call upon later if need be.
