We run down the major deals that took place in Serie A on transfer deadline day, with all the big clubs active in the market.

Roma continued their hectic summer of player recruitment when signing four players in the shape of Fernando Gago (Real Madrid), Miralem Pjanic (Lyon), Simon Kjaer (Wolfsburg) and Fabio Borini (Parma).

While Juventus confirmed the capture of Netherlands international Eljero Elia from Hamburg, rivals Inter turned to the Spanish market to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan as a replacement for Samuel Eto'o, and to fellow Italians Lazio to secure forward Mauro Zarate on loan.

Milan were not expected to be active but they loaned Massimo Oddo to Lecce and strengthened their midfield with a deal for Palermo's Antonio Nocerino.
