Kieran Trippier probably hoped his career would be remembered for his outstanding performances at the 2018 World Cup. Well, that might not happen now.

Here’s how it played out in Trippier's head, presented with glorious screenshots.

1. 'Time, Tripps'

2. 'No need to look up, nice 'n easy'

3. 'Job don... oh god'

4. 'Please disallow it'

Sadly, for Trippier and his immediate family anyway, the goal stood.

The response on social media was not particularly favourable, especially after this tweet from 2014 surfaced:

Go on then, Twitter, have your way.

Even his Wikipedia page got an update.

Never forget.
