Romeu has a free header from a Davis corner, and he heads just over the bar with the chance.

Long gets a yellow for deliberately tangling his legs with Ward as the two fell, or possibly for dissent after Lemina shrugs off a challenge with his arm.
Cabaye curls in a free kick which is comfortably headed away. Southampton now have a chance to break down the right.
Free kick for Palace on the right wing.
Fosu-Mensah recovers gingerly from an awkward fall. Southampton have been sitting back, inviting pressure of late.
Ward dinks a ball forward for Townsend to chase, but he fouls Bertrand as he challenges for the ball.

Benteke strains to reach a cross, in front of Yoshida, but his header loops well clear.

Loftus-Cheek dances into the Southampton box and his ball, rolled across the six-yard box, is met by nobody.
- 2nd Half
We go again.
- End of 1st Half
That's half time. Southampton have looked very imposing, and simply won't give up the ball. Palace have made a few decent chances on the occasions they've been given possession, but that's only rarely.
Townsend chases a ball into the box and lashes a volley well wide of the goal. This is the only indicated minute of added time, so the half is soon coming to a close.
Some excellent footwork from Redmond sells a dummy to McArthur, and he sends a low shot across Hennessey, who is able to claim.
Redmond finds Long lurking in the box, but his shot is blocked and a potentially very dangerous chance goes begging.
Lemina can't chase down a pass to the left hand corner of the pitch, and a nicely worked move from Southampton comes to an end
Long is the player down with noggin problems now, after McArthur sticks his forearm into his mush, trying to shield the ball innocently enough. He's alright.
Hoedt finds Tadic with a magnificent 'diag', but his low ball into the box isn't near any striker, and the danger passes.
Cabaye floats in a pass for Benteke in the box. But it's too high, and a touch behind him, so it drifts out of play for a goal kick.
Schlupp hits it long for Puncheon to chase down the left, but it's overhit.
Ward is down, clutching his head after an awkward landing after a tussle with Redmond. He's alright to continue.
Cedric's cross from the right wing is headed up and away by Dann. Loftus-Cheek wins the second ball, heading it on again, and Romeu is penalised for jumping into him.
- Yellow cardYohan CabayeCrystal Palace
Cabaye gets a booking for jumping onto Lemina's toes.
Lemina heads away Palace's corner Southampton counter down the right, but the move loses momentum and Palace drop back.
Another chance for Loftus-Cheek. He rides two challenges, but Bertrand recovers well to stick out a leg and deflect his shot wide for a corner.
Loftus-Cheek brings the ball from midfield after a Benteke lay-off. He takes a few touches and shoots early, 30 yards out, fizzing just wide.
Ward strains to reach a pass from Townsend, but his cross is just a fraction too high. Palace keep hold of the ball.
Long looks to be behind the offside trap and free to cut in and take on the 'keeper, but Redmond had delayed his pass a touch too long, and he's offside.
Redmond and Bertrand are agitated over what appears to be a throw-in that's awarded against them, but the referees confirms they are correct. PANIC OVER.
Palace are playing like the away side. Or another way of putting it: It's like watching England v Iceland.
Redmond makes space for a shot from about 30 yards, and while it stings the hands of Hennessey, it's too central to be threatening.
Lemina's quick feet in midfield makes room about 35 yards out, and he blasts an effort wide instead of finding Cedric and Tadic out to his right.
Loftus-Cheek concedes a foul high up the pitch, interrupting that momentum Palace had been building up.
Townsend lays the ball off to Loftus-Cheek, finding the touchline and crossing it for Benteke's run to the six-yard box. He shoots, only a few yards out, but Forster pulls off a vital save.
Hennessey hoiks a clearance away from goal, which means it's straight back to the Southampton defence.
Southampton keep the ball around the defence, with Palace not pressing that high up the pitch.
Yoshida slides down an excellent pass for Cedric's run down the right wing, but he's called offside.
Tadic curls in an early cross to the back post for Long, who had peeled off to the right. He looped a header back from where it came, but well wide of goal.
Townsend tackles Lemina, drives down the wing and wins a foul when he's tripped - perhaps - by Hoedt. Nothing from it.
Bertrand's cross is headed into the air, and Palace then win a free kick to relieve the pressure for now.
Puncheon concedes a foul on Cedric on the right wing, giving Southampton the chance to cross from the right. Bertrand and Davis size it up.
- GoalSteven DavisSouthampton
GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Southampton. Davis scores - Redmond finds Tadic on the inside right in the box, he takes a touch to the byline and fires in an awkward ball for Hennessey to deal with. He pushes it away from goal, but straight to Davis, who sidefoots home.
Southampton are the form team coming into the game, having won a game this season.
- 1st Half
Loftus-Cheek bursts forward down the left, but his cross comes to nothing.

Pellegrino has elected to start with Shane Long in attack. He's an occasionallly excellent player, but often struggles to perform as a striker consistentlly. Virgil van Dijk is back as a substitute after a difficult summer.
Don't tell Mauricio Pochettino that goals are overrated: “I have got the best strikers I can have at this moment. My job is to work with them and to try and improve them. To score a goal is the most difficult thing in modern football. That is why people who score goals are worth £100m, £200m. We have created chances and deserved to score more goals than we have, but you have to convert these chances. I see this game as an opportunity to convert more chances, to arrive in the final third and create more."
Hodgson appears to have moved on from the England job, saying: "At the moment I’m south London. I’m here in Beckenham. A lot of the Crystal Palace fans who will be reading this, the ones who interest me most of all, will want to know what Roy Hodgson is saying about Crystal Palace. What is he saying about the job? About our team? That Iceland game has gone and has no relevance to my work now."
Palace don't have many options to choose from with their squad. The only notable sub they really have is Patrick van Aanholt, who starts from the bench. The job is more about finding a style to suit the players, something Frank de Boer could not manage.
This is Roy Hodgson's first match as Crystal Palace manager. It's a chance for him to re-establish his reputation after a very poor few years in charge of England. He did a similar job with Fulham, but overachieving twice in relatively quick succession is never easy for a manager.
