Barcelona hope to complete the signing of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Angel Di Maria before the Spanish transfer window closes – but face a race against time.

According to Sport, Barcelona have failed with offers of €25m and €35m for the former Real Madrid man, with PSG said to have dropped their valuation from €90m and €60m.

That still leaves the clubs some distance apart, but reports in Spain suggest Barca will continue talks right up to the 11pm deadline.

Di Maria, 29, played for Real Madrid between 2010 and 2014, winning the Champions League in his final season as well as one La Liga title and two Copa del Reys.

Barca have landed Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth up to £135m after losing Neymar to PSG for almost £200m, but were unable to convince Liverpool to sell Philippe Coutinho.

Di Maria is their fall-back option.
