That was quite the performance from Girona, who dismantled a second, or even third, string Girona side. Portu was the best player on the pitch. The young Spurs defence just couldn't cope with the number nine. He found so much space in behind the full backs and got his reward.

FULL TIME: Girona 4-1 Spurs.

We're into stoppage time here. There shouldn't be too much to play.

Girona are a club with big ambitions. They have that link with Manchester City, which has helped them, and on this basis they will cause shocks in La Liga again this season.

COULD HAVE BEEN FIVE! Benitez surges through on goal, drives into the box and gets the shot away at goal, but a block sends his effort just wide of the near post. Not far away.

Spurs have looked better in the past 10 minutes or so, but that could be because Girona have taken their foot off the pedal since scoring their fourth of the match.

The next few days will be interesting for Spurs. Will they manage to keep Alderweireld amid interest from Man Utd? Will they manage to get a few more bodies in through the door?

This game has lost its flow. The fourth game really killed the match as a contest and so Spurs have been treading water, just hoping to get to full time, for quite some time now.

The Spurs team that starts the first Premier League game of the season next week will be very different to the one that has been dominated by Girona all over the pitch this evening.

This has been very impressive from Girona. They finished seven points outside the Europa League places last season and they look well-placed to match that achievement this term.

DRINKS BREAK! We're going to have another break here to allow the players to take on liquids in this searing heat. It's a record breaking weekend, weather wise, in Europe.

Girona have put one quite a show for their fans here this evening. They have played with urgency and a high tempo throughout and now they are pulling out some of the tricks.

This result is in contrast to the results that Spurs have strung together in the International Champions Cup. They have had a good summer, but this has been a tough one.

VERY GOOD SAVE! Juanpe must have thought that he had scored another for Girona, but Gazziniga made the save to tip the header over his own bar. What an effort, what a save.

Portu comes off and gets a standing ovation from everyone inside the stadium. The Girona number nine has been the best player on the pitch, and by some distance as well.

Llorente has hardly had a touch of the ball since coming off the bench for Spurs at the half time break. The Spaniard has had mixed fortunes at Spurs since joining them last summer.

It should be noted that this is a second string side from Spurs this evening, but Pochettino must be worried by how Girona are the team who look to be in much better shape.

It just looks like Girona are taking this game more seriously. Not only do they have more quality in the attacking third of the pitch, but there is a drive to their play. They are winning second balls.

Pochettino won't be pleased with what he has seen from his players this evening. Spurs have been second best throughout, despite taking the lead first. Girona have been dominant.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Girona 4 (61 mins - Aleix Garcia) Spurs 1. Wow! This is a rampant performance from Girona now. Portu was played through, he should have scored. He hit the post instead, but Garcia was on hand to find the roof of the net with a rebound finish.

WHAT A MOVE! That could and maybe should have been a fourth goal for Girona. Potu was played through, he backheeled to Garcia, but Gazziniga made the save low down.

That was instant revenge for Portu. He felt that he was fouled as he chased a ball over he top, and then within seconds he was played through and grabbed Girona's third of the game.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Girona 3 (55 mins - Portu) Spurs 1. Portu gets the goal that his performance has warranted! The Girona number nine was threaded through, his touch set him up nicely and he did well to slide a finish into the bottom corner of the net.

The home fans aren't happy. They believe that Portu was pushed off the ball as he chased a long pass over the top. Gazzaniga came off his line to chest and clear the danger.

So from what I can see, Llorente has come on for Spurs at the break. Lucas is off. Vorm has also come off to be replaced by Gazzaniga and Aurier has been replaced at right back.

Correction: there were a few changes made by Spurs at the break. Apologies, it can be difficult to keep track of changes made from the bench in friendly matches like these.

It must be said that this has been quite an entertaining pre-season game. These fixtures can be mundane, but that has not been the case here. Both sides have attacked well.

WHAT A CROSS! That was a very dangerous delivery from Portu. Lozano and Juanpe looked to get on the end of it, but the ball was just a little too strong for them to reach.

AMOS... JUST WIDE! That was close to being an equaliser for Spurs. Amos pounced on some slack defensive play by Girona, but could only scuff his finish just wide of the post.

Girona were the better side in the opening 45 minutes and deserved to be ahead at the half time break. Spurs started well, but were eventually found out at the back by the hosts.

No changes made by either side at the break, which is unusual for a pre-season friendly like this. However, I'm sure we will see subs made before too long by both managers.

The second half is under way in Catalonia! Girona have a 2-1 lead over Spurs.

HALF TIME: Girona 2-1 Spurs. Lucas gave the visitors the lead early on, but Girona have been the better team on the whole and deserve to be leading at the half time break.

One wonders if Pochettino might look to the Spurs youth ranks in order to make up for the lack of signings made by the North London club this summer. They have talent down there.

There is still a lot of transfer speculation around Spurs, despite the fact the transfer window closes next week. Alderweireld is a Man Utd target, with Grealish a target for Spurs.

Spurs just can't deal with Girona when they burst in behind in the wide positions. Portu in particular is causing the away side all kinds of problems. They can't cope with the striker.

More will be expected of Girona this season. They have given themselves a platform to build on and on the basis of this performance, they might improve even further. Impressive.

OFFSIDE! Son was trying to poke through Lucas, who was playing on the shoulder of the last defender. But he mistimed his run and the flag is up on the near side. He was offside.

ANOTHER VORM SAVE! Girona are tearing Spurs to shreds in attack, with Garcia finding Lozano with a clipped cross into the box. Vorm gets down to save Lozano's header, though.

This is an under strength Spurs side for this game this evening and you have seen this these past 10 minutes or so. Girona have a lot of quality in the final third of the pitch.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Girona 2 (32 mins - Anthony Lozano) Spurs 1. The home side have turned this game around and now have the lead! Portu got down the outside, beat his man and drove into the box. He squared for Lozano, who did well to finish from close range. There were men back on the line.

DRINKS BREAK! It's over 30 degrees Celsius in Catalonia this evening, so the two teams are taking a quick drinks break here. Play should get under way in no time at all.

Oh! Lozano was close to making the most of a defensive mix up from Spurs there. The defender was too slack on the ball, but the Girona midfielder couldn't get it under control.

That was a nice cross from Garcia, who will spend the season on loan at Girona from Manchester City. He was looking for Portu, but Aurier makes the clearing header at the back.

This is an opportunity for Skipp to make a mark in a Spurs shirt. The youngster is highly rated by many at the club, so this pre-season game gives him the chance to show what he can do.

Great play from Juanpe there. His freekick effort was good enough, but then he followed up his strike by making the run into the box. Vorm stood no chance of saving his header.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Girona 1 (23 mins - Juanpe) Spurs 1. Girona find the equaliser! After hitting the post with a freekick Juanpe drifts into the box to get on the end of a cross into the box and beats Vorm with a header down into the ground and into the back of the net.

OFF THE POST! What an effort that was from Juanpe. He struck the freekick from the best part of 25 yards, leaving Vorm standing. However, it smashes off the outside of the post and away.

Nobody is really sure what to expect from Spurs this season. They have finished in the top four in each of the past three seasons, but do they have enough to mount a title challenge?

After a strong start by Girona, Spurs have taken a grip of this game. They are the ones dictating the play around the centre of the pitch. The opening goal has changed things.

Lucas is an interesting player. He certainly gives Spurs something different in the final third - he is a speedy winger who carries a goal threat - but hasn't yet totally proved himself.

There's also a start for Aurier in the right back position. He has been second choice behind Trippier since moving to Spurs and he has a point to prove this season after some mistakes last term.

Nkoudou is playing well for Spurs out on the left side. This is his third season with the North London side. He was on loan at Burnley last season, but wants to make an impression at Spurs.

Well, that goal actually came against the run of play. There was an argument to be made that Girona had in fact been dominant, but it's the away side who open the scoring here.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Girona 0 Spurs 1 (13 mins - Lucas Moura). Ooooh that's a stunner! What a goal from Spurs to open the scoring. Lucas smashes the freekick through the wall and into the back of the net from about 20 yards out. Very good goal from the Brazilian winger.

You would think that Spurs are further along the line in their match fitness and sharpness, but it's Girona who have started the better of the two sides in this game.

WHAT A SAVE! That might have been the opener. Granell crossed into the Spurs box, with a Girona player meeting the cross with a header. Vorm got down to make the reflex save!

ANOTHER GIRONA CHANCE! Oh that was another opportunity for the home side. Muniesa did well to cut inside and should have taken the shot on himself, but passed to Portu and the shot was blocked.

Girona have made quite the impression in the Spanish top flight since their promotion last season. They have a link with Manchester City and that has seen some top players join on loan.

Spurs' pre-season so far hasn't been a bad one. They have scored plenty of goals and have shown plenty of life against some very, very strong opponents over the summer period.

Spurs are playing in their away kit this evening. It's blue, so a fairly familiar look for them, but what is unusual is the fact that their players are wearing one to 11 on the back.

This is largely a second string team from Pochettino this evening, but Son and Lucas are playing in attack, so the North London side should carry some threat in this one.

CHANCE FOR PORTU! The Girona number nine might have done better with that chance. Girona broke away on the counter, cut inside, but his shot was blocked in the end.

To set the scene...

Spurs shouldn't underestimate Girona. The Catalan side were one of the surprise packages of La Liga last season, coming close to qualifying for Europe with a top half finish.

So the start of the Premier League season is just a week away, so these games matter for Spurs. This is their final pre-season game before the real stuff starts in seven days time.

The match is under way! It's Girona against Spurs in this international friendly.

Of course, Spurs come into this game with something of a point to prove. Questions have been asked over their lack of activity this summer, so have they done enough?
