Eric Cantona to buy shares in…Bath City
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona says he will buy shares in Bath City as he aims to make the club “even greater”.
The former Red Devils forward is familiar with the English minnows, who play in the National League South, because of friendship with one of the club’s most famous fans.
Ken Loach, who directed the 2009 film ‘Looking for Eric’ which starred the 49-year-old Frenchman, is an avid supporter of the side who recently launched a community buyout scheme for fans to purchase the club.
“It's a big challenge to raise the money but don't be scared,” the four-time Premier League winner said in a video on the Big Bath City Bid YouTube channel.
“I am supporting them and buying a share myself. It is a great club, I saw it for myself,” Cantona added.
“Now, we can make it even greater.”
Supporters are hoping to raise between £750,000 to £1.25million for a takeover
