Gomez has not provided the same spark as Alexander-Arnold would normally do as of yet on that right flank.
Whether it has been the injury to Fabinho or that Mertens goal, but the home side still look well below par. Their tempo has been slow and ponderous.
It is still 0-0 between Genk and Salzburg which could have an impact on whether Liverpool qualify or not if it stays like this.
Salah and Firmino in particular have looked a little flat in the first half, far from their fluent best.

COUNTDOWN: 5 minutes until kick-off at Anfield..
Liverpool have won both of their home European games against Napoli, winning 3-1 in the 2010/11 Europa League and 1-0 in last season's UEFA Champions League. But Napoli are the only team to beat the Reds this season.
Time for the permutations: Liverpool will qualify as group winners with a win as will Napoli if Salzburg fail to win at Genk in the other match. A draw will mean the Reds need a point against Salzburg.
Liverpool will also be through if Salzburg do not beat Genk.
The draw is on Monday morning which should spice up the start of the working week.
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted his side are together and focused after a rough few weeks with reports claiming the players were fined for refusing to attend a retreat.
The ex-Chelsea manager said: "We are talking about the past but what happened has happened,' he said when asked about the fines. "Now, we are concentrating on the present and on the pitch.
"The media silence helped us concentrated on the pitch but has also stopped giving air time to those who have talked all sorts of nonsense.
"The club knows it needs to do better, the team the same, the coach also and we are all involved and we want to do it..
"But I assure you that there is full harmony. That's why I never thought of resigning. In thirty years of my career, I've never been without the confidence of the club and the players. And this time, too, it's like that."
Klopp, who recently admitted that he cannot cook, has rustled up an impressive record in Europe.
The Italians can also qualify with a win tonight and Andy Robertson has warned the visitors will be thirsty for revenge after their defeat to Liverpool last season which saw them eliminated in the group stages,
He said: “Napoli will want to get into the top 16 as they did not do it last year because we stopped them - and they will want to get a bit of revenge.
“But, I believe we will cause them problems. At 100 per cent, we can beat anyone. Napoli are no different. Hopefully we can get the three points.”
The walk from the bus to the dressing room, shame there is no soundtrack.
