And it's over!
What a stunning game, and what a crazy 15 minutes of football from when Azpilicueta made it 4-2 in the 63rd minute to when the Chelsea captain saw a goal ruled out that would have made it 5-4.
It ends 4-4. Crazy.
WIDE!! The final chance? Batshuayi scuffs his effort somewhat and it's a few yards wide of the far post.
Lovely cross from James but Pulisic's touch is heavy... another cross from James but Abraham heads well wide.
It took about three minutes alone for the penalty + two red cards incident - how have they only found another minute?!
WHAT A SAVE! It looked like that was the moment... but after Batshuayi shoots on the turn, Onana gets down to his left to make the stop.
FOUR minutes added on.
Is that it?! Lampard is laughing and asking the fourth official how it is only four.
JUST WIDE! So very nearly from Hudson-Odoi, but it curls just a yard wide.
Ajax are attacking with NINE MEN and Mazraoui forces another save from Kepa...
Chelsea then go on the break but Abraham's header is too close to Onana.
Two minutes of normal time left.
- OffMateo KovacicChelsea
- OnMichy BatshuayiChelsea
Chelsea need a hero late on here - and on comes Batshuayi.
BIG SAVE! Alvarez almost curls one into the bottom corner but Kepa gets down to parry it away!
CHANCE! But Abraham can't direct his header towards goal after Hudson-Odoi's early cross.
Gaz not 'appy.
Right. Let's make some sense of that then.
Pulisic's effort hit the head of Martinez and replays show it has hit Abraham's arm during a spell of pinball in the Ajax box too.
It was Azpilicueta who then seemingly scored his second, but the referee consulted the pitch-side monitor and spotted the handball.
BUT WAIT!!! NO GOAL!
The goal has been disallowed after a check of the pitch-side monitor.
GOAL!!! CHELSEA ARE IN FRONT!!!
CLOSE! Ajax almost go back in front... but Promes' free-kick deflects just over.
Just the 15 minutes to go 11 vs 9.
My word, my fingers are on fire.
Zouma heads against the bar from a corner, but it then falls for James, who calmly strikes it first time to level for Chelsea.
What a game.
- GoalReece JamesChelsea
GOAL! JAMES LEVELS FOR CHELSEA!!!!
- OffHakim ZiyechAjax
- OnEdson ÁlvarezAjax
It's Schuurs and Alvarez on for Neres and Ziyech. This is going to be some final 20 minutes...
- OffDavid NeresAjax
- OnPerr SchuursAjax
Well, well, well... Without their two centre halves, Ajax must make two changes as they look to protect their one-goal lead with nine men and 20 minutes to go...
- Goal by penaltyJorginhoChelsea
A second goal for Jorginho from the spot, and Chelsea are now playing against NINE MEN.
- Red cardJoël VeltmanAjax
NOW VELTMAN IS SENT OFF!!!
What is going on?!?! As the Ajax players protest, Veltman is shown a second yellow as well it would appear. He handballed Hudson-Odoi's effort, but is that yellow for protesting? Who knows.
BOTH AJAX CENTRE HALVES HAVE BEEN SENT OFF IN THE SPACE OF A MINUTE!
AND IT'S A PENALTY TO CHELSEA!
Not for Blind's foul - that came in the build-up - but it's given after Hudson-Odoi's strike hits the arm of Veltman.
- Red cardDaley BlindAjax
AJAX DOWN TO 10 MEN!!
Booked in the first half, Blind is shown a second yellow for a foul on Abraham!!
WIDE! Jorginho tries his luck from the edge of the area, and it appears to flick off Abraham before trickling wide. Chelsea want a corner, goal-kick given.
Wouldn't bet against anything in the final 25 minutes here.
4-4. 6-2. 5-4.
- GoalCésar AzpilicuetaChelsea
It's scrappy, but Chelsea will not care...
Pulisic's low cross is flicked on by Abraham, and though it's not quite going in, there is Azpilicueta to get his studs on the ball and knock it into the goal.
It's checked for offside but the goal stands.
GOAL! CHELSEA GET ONE BACK!
- OffMason MountChelsea
- OnCallum Hudson-OdoiChelsea
As Mount heads off injured and Hudson-Odoi comes on, worth nothing England are back in action next week - Mount with a race to be fit for that.
Mount wincing and he takes some time to get to his feet. He's hobbling badly and Hudson-Odoi is readying himself on the sidelines.
Mount is down and looks in some pain after Van de Beek stands on the player's right foot.
You could hear a pin drop inside Stamford Bridge. Zouma's run and strike feels like an age ago now, not 10 minutes.
- GoalDonny van de BeekAjax
Chelsea well and truly punished... Van de Beek drifts in and is unmarked in the Chelsea area. It's a perfect first touch to kill the ball from a cross, and he then strokes it back across goal and beyond Kepa.
Stamford Bridge silenced.
The Ox has put Liverpool back in front at Anfield...
SAVE! Now this is a big chance.... it's great play from Chelsea as Kovacic slides in Abraham, but the forward is off balance when shooting and Onana makes the save. Hint of offside but the corner was given.
SAVE! Chelsea doing exactly what they need to do, pressing and probing, and this time it's Abraham whose header is saved by Onana.
Pulisic ain't half quick... he catches his own punt forward before sending a cross in - it finds James beyond the back post and his effort is blocked.
That was no unopposed run by the way. Zouma evaded about four Ajax players before firing over. That would have been something.
WOW! What a goal that would have been... Lampard cannot help but smile as Zouma absolutely storms his way through the Ajax team from his own half, does a couple of stepovers on the edge of the area, but then fires wildly over.
That has certainly woken the crowd up.
- 2nd Half
And away we go...
- OffMarcos AlonsoChelsea
- OnReece JamesChelsea
Half-time sub. Alonso, who had a poor half, goes off - on comes James.
- End of 1st Half
Ajax take too long to take the corner and that's half-time.
Ajax deserve their lead and have two own goals to thank for it. Thrilling game though and you would expect more goals after the break! See you in 15.
Again it's Abraham who gets on the end of an Ajax free-kick, but he heads it over for a corner...
- Yellow cardCésar AzpilicuetaChelsea
Chelsea have numbers in their latest attack but again it's Blind who thwarts Pulisic with Willian free to his right.
Now it's Azpilicueta who goes in the book - four yellows already this half.
ONE minute added on.
SAVE! Moments after Alonso's poor cross is met with groans, the ball falls kindly for the Chelsea left-back on the edge of the area, but his strike is straight at Onana.
- Yellow cardFikayo TomoriChelsea
OVER! Tomori is applauded for a tackle but the flag goes up. However, play is waved on and eventually Tadic fires over. Tomori is booked for his challenge meanwhile.
Unlucky... but y'know, pretty darn funny...
Chelsea shell-shocked, but Ajax aren't sitting back and there's every chance the hosts can reduce the deficit before half-time.
And indeed - that one's gone down as a Kepa own goal!
Little he could have done, and Ziyech was within a whisker of that going off the crossbar and in anyway.
Ziyech's gone for this, surely...
It's a needless foul from Alonso out wide - basically a corner - and Ziyech whips it in with pace, finding the far crossbar before it SMACKS Kepa in the face and goes in...
Kepa was diving to keep it out and replays show it hit him square in the face on the rebound.
- Own-goalKepa ArrizabalagaChelsea
MY WORD, WHAT A GOAL!
That scoreline and the 'as it stands' table really does highlight how big this match is for Chelsea and Ajax.
It's currently Ajax sitting pretty on nine points while there would be three sides scrapping it out for second, you would imagine.
But PLENTY of time to change all that tonight.
- Yellow cardDaley BlindAjax
There's a yellow for Blind, who fouls Kovavic and joins Veltman in the book who was booked just moments ago.
Lille a goal up at Valencia - that would bring them level with the Spaniards on four points with two games to go, and just two behind Chelsea. As it stands......
Replays show the Promes goal was checked for offside, the red and blue line etc etc - as Darren Fletcher points out on commentary, it's actually refreshing we didn't really realise that goal was being checked for offside in the first place.
It was close, by the way, but Promes was a millimetre or something on.
The corner comes to nothing and Chelsea look to break, but Willian's ball forward cannot find Pulisic.
Alonso is NOT happy after Neres goes down after skipping over a challenge - there doesn't appear to be a lot of contact and the Ajax winger is hobbling a bit. He's up though, and it's Ziyech who takes the free-kick...
JUST WIDE! It comes off Abraham! Who is within a whisker of heading in his second own goal of the night!
Chelsea just need to raise their level again now. They did well to bounce back from going a goal down initially, but in truth they've been second best so far, and haven't looked too threatening since Ajax went 2-1 up.
Ziyech continues his fine start to the season, unsurprisingly.
Promes ghosted behind Azpilicueta there to nod Ajax ahead - that will frustrate Lampard and the Chelsea defence, but Ten Hag will be delighted with his winger there.
- GoalQuincy PromesAjax
GOAL AJAX! Another goal was coming, and it's Promes who heads the visitors in front after a fine cross from Ziyech.
Great game so far, and you can't see this one staying 1-1. Ajax moving the ball around nicely when they have possession, but Chelsea do look dangerous too.
A goal at Anfield...
OFFSIDE! Abraham strokes the ball into the back of the net after a fine pass from Kovacic, but the forward is just offside when the ball is played.
CHANCE! Down the other end, Tadic brings a long ball down beautifully but cannot keep his effort down.
Some lovely play from Kovacic and he almost weaves his way through the whole of Ajax's defence, but there is Blind to make a vital interception.
Some Arsenal news, if you're that way inclined...
The frantic pace has continued somewhat. It was surprising to see just the one goal between these two sides a fortnight ago - we've seen two in the opening four minutes tonight. More to come.
Ajax's opener will go down as an Abraham own goal.
It's that classic run-up and finish from Jorginho, with the skip to boot. Unconventional, but it certainly works for the Chelsea midfielder.
- Goal by penaltyJorginhoChelsea
Cool as you like, Jorginho rolls in the equaliser from the spot.
PENALTY TO CHELSEA!
Pulisic goes down under Veltman's challenge.
Was there a touch?!
A foul from Azpilicueta and Ajax have the chance to cross one in - it's Promes who sends the ball in and it appears to clip Tammy Abraham before bouncing past Kepa.
- Own-goalTammy AbrahamChelsea
GOAL TO AJAX! Ajax are 1-0 up inside two minutes!

And we are under way. Who can get their nose in front in Group H? We’re about to find out…
Back to west London...
The teams are out and that familiar Champions League anthem rings out around Stamford Bridge. Kick-off next…
Meanwhile, over in north London...
Ajax travel well under Ten Hag, having won their last five away matches in the Champions League. The Dutch champions are also top and unbeaten (W10 D2) after 12 Eredivisie matches so far this season.
Goes to show how big Chelsea’s win was a fortnight ago, but that won’t make it any easier tonight…
Smells like the ATP FInals are just around the corner...
Something’s gotta give...
Chelsea have a 100% record against Dutch sides in the Champions League, twice beating Feyenoord in 1999-2000 before winning at Ajax, who themselves have never lost an away UCL match in England (W1 D3).
Is Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag on Bayern Munich’s radar?
The former Bayern II boss has ruled out moving to Germany, while reports emerged today that the Bundesliga champions approached PSG’s Thomas Tuchel regarding the vacancy following Niko Kovac’s departure.
But still, you just never know...
As it stands at the halfway point in Group H, it is too close to call… Chelsea are top with six points and are above Ajax based on the head-to-head ruling, with Valencia two points behind the duo. Lille are lagging behind on one point.
Suffice to say, tonight’s match will have a huge bearing on who tops the group, with the losers potentially falling behind Valencia, who host Lille at the same time.
Batshuayi may have scored the winner in Amsterdam a fortnight ago but still it’s Abraham who leads the line for Chelsea tonight. It’s just the one change from their 2-1 win over Watford, in fact, with Alonso coming in for Emerson. Kante is fit to make the bench.
Ajax meanwhile name the same XI that beat PEC Zwolle in the league on Friday.
Follow the final half-an-hour of Barcelona's match at home to Slavia Prague.
Valverde's side are - once again - looking below-par...
Ajax XI: Onana, Mazraoui, Veltman, Blind, Tagliafico, van de Beek, Ziyech, Martinez, Neres, Tadic, Promes
Subs: Varela, Schuurs, Alvarez, Huntelaar, De Jong, Marin, Dest
Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Mount, Pulisic, Abraham
Subs: Caballero, Christensen, James, Kante, Gilmour, Hudson-Odoi, Batshuayi
Welcome along to the live text commentary for this massive Group H encounter at Stamford Bridge. It’s a reverse of the fixture two weeks ago which saw Chelsea sneak an impressive 1-0 win at Ajax. Can Frank Lampard’s side do the double over last season’s semi-finalists?
Let’s see the line-up tasked with doing just that…
Right then, Tuesday night, Champions League, Chelsea at home to Ajax.
