An excellent night for Spurs, who keep pace with Real Madrid at the top of the group. They didn't play especially well, but the wonderful Harry Kane is and was the wonderful Harry Kane, and that's all there is to it. Thanks for your company - night!

21:36

Full-time: Apoel 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur

90+3'

We are marking time.

90+2'
90+2'
90'

There shall be three additional minutes.

90'
90'

On Georgiou:

88'

Makris gets away down the right after De Camargo beautifully volley-flicks a ball into him. This really should be a goal, but the cross is miles behind Alexandrou and Spurs preserve what will be one of their more fortuitous clean sheets.

87'

Elsewhere in the group, Ronaldo has scored - a jazzer - to put Madrid 3-1 ahead in Dortmund. They're looking very, very good.

86'

Rueda fancies the shot from the free-kick, 30 yards out, but drills it plenty over the bar.

85'

Winks loses control of the ball to sticks out an arm and also appears to clip Farias' heels. He's booked.

84'

Isn't this nice: Anthony Georgiou makes his Spurs debut, replacing Sissoko.

84'

Change for Apoel: Alexandrou replaces Morais.

82'

Sod all going on here, so feast your peepers on this.

81'
79'

Farias goes down the left and crosses, the ball breaking to Zahid, whose low shot is deflected behind by Sanchez. Llorente heads the corner clear.

78'

They're all just trotting about now.

76'

Credit where it's due, the Apoel fans are still having it.

76'

Apoel are trying to keep the score down now, Aloneftis coming off and the more defensively-minded Farias replacing him.

75'

Off goes Kane, with N'Koudou replacing him. A brilliant performance, rescuing a poor one from his mates.

74'
73'

Kane drifts left and Dier finds him - his first touch is lovely, setting him to turn a low return cross into the middle, which Waterman reaches just in time.

72'

Jon Champion pints out that Kane's hat-trick is a perfect one, left foot, right foot, header.

70'
69'

Kane's looking for four, bundling through a few challenges and driving into Carlao ... the rebound falls to Son, who lashes goalwards, only for a deflection to take it behind. The corner comes to nothing.

67'

GOAL! Apoel 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur (Kane) And there it is! Kane spreads wide, and you can see that Apoel have gone before Trippier even crosses. In it comes - it's a lovely ball - and Kane stoops to guide a delicious header into the far bottom corner. What a absolute superstar.

67'

There's clearly a hat-trick in the works. No way Kane is letting this finish here.

63'

Makris replaces Sallai - odd, as he's looked Apoel's best player to me.

62'

GOAL! Apoel 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur (Kane) The difference! Sissoko gets away down the left and clips back to Kane, inside the D. There's still plenty to do, but again he transfers the ball perfectly into stride, then sweep-strokes a finish into the far corner with the keeper set to go the other way. What a player he is!

61'

Apoel are coming, Aloneftis finding space down the left and bending a cross around Trippier, which skims off De Camargo's forehead - he's only six yards out too! Apoel then recycle the ball and cross again - this time it hits Trippier and bounces down to Lloris.

60'

Spurs are not playing at all well, and again they're caught playing too high a line, one ball sticking Sallai in space at inside-right. With options in the middle, he slices across a shot, and it flies plenty wide of the near post.

60'

In Dortmund, it's now 2-1 to Madrid.

58'

I was wrong: Spurs are now playing a back-four, with Trippier on the right and Davies on the left. Son is on the left of midfield, Sissoko on the right.

57'

Change for Spurs: Llorente replaces Aurier, who doesn't look at all pleased. So presumably Son will go to wing-back, and the hope will be that Llorente will hold the ball up.

56'

Morais sends Aloneftis away at inside-left - one ball, after a roll-out from the keeper - in behind Spurs' high line! He smacks a shot hard towards the near post, but it's nowhere near good enough to trouble Lloris, who palms wide. The corner comes to nothing.

55'

Kane reaches a loose ball ahead of Carlao, who slides in anyway, absolutely cleaning him out. No booking, apparently.

54'

Apoel are having plenty of the ball, and it takes a fine tackle from Trippier to stop Zahid down the right.

53'

Harry Kane has scored in four consecutive Champions League games; the only other Englishman who's done that is Steven Gerrard.

52'

Nice from Winks, wriggling in off the right and beating a couple of men before Vinicius grabs him by the waist and pulls him down, thus earning a booking.

51'

At the Etihad, Kevin de Bruyne has given City the lead against Donetsk, who were apparently very good in the first half.

50'

Aloneftis puts the ball between Dier and Aurier, then plunges after it. No penalty, and the ref stares at him when he might have shown a card.

50'
48'

Good move from Apoel, De Camargo lifting a ball over the Spurs defence for Sallai at inside left; he lets it bounce and hammers a shot headed fir high inside the far post, forcing Lloris to dive full-length and catch,

47'

Vinicius finds space on the left and crosses into the middle, Sallai taking advantage of Sanchez getting caught under the ball ... and it flicks onto Zahid, who drives over.

46'

Good start from Spurs, Sissoko clumping through midfield and finding Kane to his left while, in the meantime, Son hares around the back of him - his movement is excellent - runs onto the pass and drives low and just wide.

46'

Spurs see us away again.

20:47

The players are back with us.

20:42
20:37
20:32

Spurs started pretty well, so were surprised when Apoel suddenly improved - in the 15 or so minutes for which they were dominant, they hit the bar and created two or three other decent chances. But then Harry Kane intervened - obviously - and it's hard to see how that goal won't be decisive.

20:32

Half-time: Apoel 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

45'

Good break from Spurs, Son twinkling into space and immediately espying the run of Trippier down the left. But his slide-rule pass doesn't have quite enough on it, and Vouros intercepts.

43'

This game is now a mess. Spurs will take that.

41'

Confirmation.

41'

That goal really wasn't coming, but for the fact that it came - will Spurs be able to use it to regain control of things?

39'

GOAL! Apoel 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur (Kane) This is beautiful, Alderweireld picking Kane out with a lovely low pass from back to front, and while Vouros doesn't step up, Kane gathers it on the half-turn, cresses it into stride, and slides past the keeper inside the far post with the confidence of a master.

38'

We've not seen much of Winks tonight...

37'

Where do you go Hugo! He charges out of his box to clear an innocuous through-pass, only to crack it against Sanchez! He turns and sets off after the loose ball, as does Sallai ... but neither can reach it and it rolls just wide of the post. Spurs get the corner away.

36'

Apoel win a corner down the left, hit towards the back stick by Zahid ... and Carlao peels off Alderweireld! Only to head wide! That was a serious chance.

34'

Nice give-and-go from Aurier and Son, the former hitting the line before overhitting a cross. At the back post, Trippier does all he can to catch up with it, but can't quite keep the ball in.

34'

This snap is a pretty decent summation of what's going on at the moment.

33'

Liverpool have equalised in Moscow, Mane setting up Coutinho.

32'

Aurier whacks a cross straight at Carlao's noggin,; the ball goes behind and Spurs waste the corner, obviously.

31'

It's gone pretty quiet over there, to paraphrase a Spurs song, so we could do far worse than have a wee keek at that Bale goal I mentioned.

29'

Apoel are now the better team. Not by much, and they're not exactly pounding at the Tottenham goal, but they are having more of the ball.

27'

Elsewhere, Liverpool are now behind in Moscow, while in this group, Madrid lead Dortmund thanks to Gareth Bale.

24'
22'

M,y system crashed, but the game is much more of a game now, Apoel pushing forward - which might leave space at the back for Spurs to exploit.

19'

Suddenly Apoel are at it! Aloneftis slides a ball into the box and De Camargo runs onto it at inside-left, holding off Davies to shmice a shot against the bar, close to the near post. That's a great effort, and actually Trippier does really well to get out of the way as it rushes past him.

18'

Lovely from Spurs, Winks spreading left to Trippier who comes inside on his good foot and picks out Son with a fine cross! He's onside, about six yards out and pretty central, but can't quite get over the ball so heads up and over. That was a great chance.

17'

Morais sticks a pass out to Vouros down the right, and his cross is decent, picking out Sallai who's allowed by Sanchez to reach the ball first ... only to steer his header wide.

16'

Spurs make a mess of another short corner, but Aurier does really well to turn and slot a pass between Roberto Lago and Carlao, back to Davies. He takes a touch, looks up, and drills a low cross right at the nearest defender.

14'

Three consecutive touches for Apoel! Ball into Sallai, whose flick puts Aloneftis away! He's wide left, but in acres ... and up goes the flag.

11'

Apoel just can't get out. Spurs' two strikers are shutting their defenders down, and when they try and clear, De Camargo has three centre-backs to handle.

9'

Nowt to do with this game, but who doesn't enjoy footbaling ephemera and weirdness?

8'

There's a really decent atmosphere inside the ground, albeit not a very intimidating one. It doesn't seem to be having much effect on the players, though.

7'

This has been a very confident start from Spurs - Apoel have barely been out of their own half.

5'

From the corner, Alderweireld's header is deflected behind, so Spurs try going short before Winks pings a pass at Dier, on the edge - chest high. Which is the end of that attack.

4'

Nice from Spurs, Winks sliding a hard sidefooter out to Aurier, who crosses low and first-time with his instep. Carlao then makes a mess and Son is on him to pick up the pieces, swivelling into a shot which is blocked behind.

2'

Looks like it's Trippier at left-back, not Aurier, and Son is playing pretty much up front with Kane, who's just zipped a left-footer wide from 25 yards.

1'

The pitch is "rutted and pitted," apparently - I think Jon Champion is saying it's got zits.

1'

Off we go!

19:42

Out come the players!

19:38

19:32

Other odd things about this Spurs side: Ben Davies at centre-back and Serge Aurier at left-back.

19:30

Mauricio Pochettino gives an interview and says nothing of note. The opposition will be tough, blah, had to make changes, pleh, it's important to win, yadda.

19:29

An away in Cyprus, at this time of year, what an absolute result for the Spurs fans. Not too hot, plenty hotter than N17, a likely win ... lovely stuff.

19:28
19:23

Apoel really didn't show much against Madrid to suggest that they'll be any sort of match for Spurs. I'm going with Spurs to win to nil.

19:16

So how good is Harrance Kane? Watching him, he seems like Shearer Mk I without the pace, but that's not really it is it? His footballing brain makes him a bit more than that, though I think he still has something to prove on bigger pitches and at the highest level. But one he does have is that priceless ability to grab a game and make it entirely about him.

19:13
19:12

BREAKING NEWS!

19:07

Apoel make one change from their game in the Bernabeu, Zahid in for Ebecilio on the right wing.

19:05

Not much he could do, given Alli, Vertonghen and Eriksen are all indisposed, but it does re,mind us that Spurs have done very little to reinforce their squad lately. On the other hand, they've no choice but to trust youth.

19:03

That's a pretty interesting XI from Mauricio Pochettino, or at least, I'm looking forward to seeing Harry Winks play; Moussa Sissooko not so much. And that is quite a bench - he'll be hoping not to need it, I guess.

19:02
19:01

Teams, then.

19:00

Evening all and welcome to Apoel v Spurs, where we shall discover if Spurs can continue what has now, despite some ropey moments, been a pretty nifty start to the season.
