Tibor Érdi Jr is ERC2 champion again in Zlín!
Hungarian hero Tibor Érdi Jr has won a second consecutive championship title in the FIA European Rally Championship’s ERC2 category, with victory on Barum Czech Rally Zlín securing his crown.
Despite a trip off-road on Saturday afternoon Érdi arrived at the finish line of SS15 without any issues, scoring a fourth ERC2 victory this season and with it the championship title.
His season started in dramatic fashion, his suspension failing in the very first superspecial stage of the season-opening Azores Airlines Rallye. Bouncing back with a victory on Rally Islas Canarias, Érdi went on a four-event winning streak, culminating with his win this weekend onBarum Czech Rally Zlín.
Though there are still two events remaining this season, only the four best results count towards a driver's points total in ERC2. With Érdi the only driver now able to score four wins this year, he is mathematically assured of a second ERC2 title, subject to official confirmation.
