A large group of elite British and Irish riders are among the field of 64 entries gathered in Pau, southwest France this weekend for the CCI4* Les 4 Etoiles de Pau — one of only a handful of 4*-level Eventing competitions across the world.
Located not far from the Spanish border and the Atlantic Ocean’s Bay of Biscay in France’s Aquitaine region, Pau offers picturesque views of the nearby snow-capped Pyrénées mountain range. But this weekend, the eyes of equestrian sports fans will be on the powerful horses and riders battling for bragging rights at the celebrated event.
For Ireland, Jonty Evans is among the six riders at Pau, with COOLEY RORKES DRIFT, while Great Britain actually has the biggest group present by nation in France, with several riders bringing multiple mounts, including Sarah Bullimore (LILLY CORINNE, REVE DU ROUET, VALENTINO V). Of course, other Eventing powers like New Zealand are represented at the competion as well.
And with the forecast calling for mainly clear skies and pleasant temperatures in Pau over the new few days, all the conditions are in place for a great display of equestrian sport.
