Williams needed just 58 minutes as she dismantled the Czech player to win 6-0 6-1 and claim the 40th title of her career.

It completed a superb week for the former world number one, who demolished world number five Sam Stosur in equally astonishing fashion in Saturday's semi-finals.

The 14-times Grand Slam champion was in irresistible form, making 27 winners and just eight errors to demonstrate form which she claims is the best of her life.

"I've never played consistently at such a high level with low errors like this, and the scary thing is I could have served so much better," she said.

Williams will move up to the world number nine spot with the win, but her injury-disrupted last 12 months means she could climb much higher very quickly.

"I have nothing to defend. June - Wimbledon I didn't do anything, Eastbourne I won one match, so that doesn't count. I did pretty well in the summer, but then I dropped off again until this tournament," she said.

"It's motivating for me to go home and work harder, because I know Lucie and Sam and everyone is going to work hard, too.

"Now they know what to expect even more when they play me. This is a battle, and I want to continue to win."
