Australian qualifier Luczak lost the first set in Switzerland to home wildcard Sadecky but fought back to claim the decider on a tiebreak and deny the crowd the prospect of an all-Swiss tie in round two.
Third seed Mikhail Youzhny will play 80th-ranked Uzbek Denis Istomin after he beat Austrian qualifier Martin Fischer 6-3 3-6 6-4.
Another Austrian, Andreas Haider-Maurer, was the highest-ranked player in first-day action at Gstaad. The 70th-ranked player progressed with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Swiss Yann Marti.
Russian Igor Andreev, ranked 78, also went through 6-3 6-2 against Mischa Zverev.
