Errani continues run
Sara Errani extended her winning clay-court streak to 13 matches with a convincing WTA Budapest quarter-final victory over Alberta Brianti.
The top seed ousted her fellow Italian 6-4 6-0 to set up a semi-final clash with Anna Tatishvili after the Georgian beat Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada 5-7 7-6 6-4 to book her place in the final four.
World number 27 Errani won her last two clay titles, at Acapulco and Barcelona, and has now won 17 consecutive sets on the surface.
The second semi-final will be contested by Marina Erakovic and Elena Vesnina after the pair won matches against Barbora Zahlavova Strycova and Petra Martic respectively.
Fifth-seeded New Zealander Erakovic had a tough clash with Czech Zahlavova Strycova but won 6-2 1-6 6-4, while Russia’s Vesnina beat sixth-seeded Croat Martic 6-3 6-2.
