Third lay day called at Volcom

Action at the Volcom Fiji Pro was called off for a third consecutive day due to further unfavourable wave conditions.

With virtually no swell on offer at the primary location of Cloudbreak, organisers of the fourth event on the ASP World Tour calendar were forced into making the decision.

There was, however, hope that the competition will get back under way on Friday with forecasters predicting a significant, long period South-southwest swell to move in.

“Very little on offer out there today so we’ve called a lay day,” Matt Wilson, Volcom Fiji Pro event director, said.

“Swell models are still indicating a significant system to move in tomorrow and peak tomorrow night with waves throughout the weekend. We’ll be back tomorrow to assess conditions.”

There are just two round two heats to complete - Bede Durbidge against Adam Melling and Kai Otton versus Raoni Monteiro - before the third round commences.

Remaining round two match-ups:

Heat 11: Bede Durbidge (AUS) vs. Adam Melling (AUS)

Heat 12: Kai Otton (AUS) vs. Raoni Monteiro (BRA)
