Lay day called in Teahupo'o

Inconsistent and small waves in Tahiti led to a lay day being called on the third morning of the Billabong Pro event at Teahupo'o.

With waves struggling to surpass one metre, action at the fifth of 10 events on the 2012 ASP World Championship tour season has been postponed until conditions pick up.

“Fairly small out here today and the inconsistency is the real issue,” said Rich Porta, head judge at ASP.

“The models are predicting a slight increase over the coming days and we’ll monitor conditions and make another call tomorrow morning.”

When things resume, two-time ASP world champion and current top seed Mick Fanning of Australia will kick off the third round heats against Hawaii's Fredrick Patacchia.
