English veteran Jonny Wilkinson got the better of Wales star James Hook as Toulon beat Perpignan 21-15.

Hook brought home side Perpignan within three points with 11 minutes left, but Wilkinson replied almost immediately with a drop goal to restore Toulon's advantage, a score that proved to be the last of the match.

Biarritz got their Top 14 season off to a stunning start with a 35-10 victory over Mont-de-Marsan.

The side were never threatened throughout the match after scoring two tries in the first 13 minutes, and Benoit Baby touched down two minutes after the clock went into the red to secure a bonus point victory that leaves them top of the table.

Stade Francais also shone in a 32-16 home win against Montpellier

Grenoble edged a thriller 29-28 against Bordeaux while Racing Metro ground out a 24-20 victory away at Agen.
