Some 70,000 people have been selected from almost 250,000 applicants to help assist with the smooth running of London 2012, filling various voluntary roles throughout the summer event.

Jeremy Silverstone, 52, his brother and sister-in-law Nick and Karen Silverstone, his cousin Phil Peters and mother-in-law Judy de Haan have all stepped forward as part of the huge operation to help prepare London and ensure that everything goes according to plan during the Games.

For the past six months Jeremy has been building some of the props that will be used during in the Olympics and Paralympics, and Phil has been recruited to help the team.

Nick and Karen, both sports massage therapists, have volunteered to help massage athletes with Nick being based at the Olympic Village and Karen helping the Afghan and British Virgin Islands teams at their London bases during the Games.

If you have volunteered to assist at the Games, or are involved in any way, share your experiences in the comments box below.
