Aston set for Eagles debut 15 years after his dad
Teenager Cory Aston will follow in his father's footsteps on Sunday when he makes his Sheffield Eagles debut in the Tetley's Challenge Cup third-round tie against Leigh East at the Don Valley Stadium.
The 18-year-old half-back's big day comes 15 years after his father Mark Aston won the Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match in the Eagles' shock Challenge Cup final win over Wigan.
Mark Aston, who carried his three-year son on his shoulders around the Wembley pitch to celebrate the victory in 1996, said: "Cory has been playing great for the Academy side this year and he's ready for the step up. There is a lot of pressure and the spotlight will be on him, with my history at the club and me being head coach, but he's worked hard and fully deserves his spot."
