Andreas Mikkelsen claimed his fifth stage victory in his SKODA UK Motorsport Fabia Super 2000 as the Norwegian went 0.5s faster than his Czech rival Jan Kopecký – in a factory Fabia.
As a result, Mikkelsen established an overall advantage of 4.5s heading to overnight service in Termini Imerese.
Umberto Scandola, of SKODA Italia, impressed with the third fastest time with Giandomenico Basso fourth quickest in his M-Sport Ford Fiesta RRC.
Sepp Wiegand, in a SKODA Auto Deutschland, was seventh quickest after a fright nearing the stage finish.
“In the second to last corner I was a bit too fast and I nearly the touched the wall and we lost two or three seconds,” Wiegand said.
