| "There are some fast corners, like turn nine and the final corner, but the majority of the track is made up of pretty long corners where you really need the car to do all the work. It’s a circuit that really rewards precision, and punishes aggression. And if you’ve got a car that wants to understeer then you’re going to have a difficult race!" |
| Montmelo: Two of the four pre-season tests were held here, so no surprises for drivers. Since 1991, this has been the most predictable circuit on the calendar and races have been processional. The course contains few braking zones and countless high-speed corners, which make a good qualifying performance and sensible strategy paramount for a successful weekend. Most of the wear on the circuit will fall on the tyres, as the long, high-speed corners and fairly abrasive track surface will force drivers to maintain the best handling balance to limit tyre wear. Spain is the only country with two races, thanks largely to Ferrari's double champion Fernando Alonso. |
