What an atrocious result for Scotland. That is a huge blow to their chances of making it to the World Cup in 2018. They were lucky to get a point. Lithuania held them at arm's length and deserved to take something from the game. Quite a terrible performance.

FULL-TIME: Scotland 1-1 Lithuania
HOW HAS THAT GONE IN? Bannan's corner kick caused mayhem and Lithuania managed to clear Martin's header from underneath their own goalline. That was almost it.
Just when Scotland were building up a head of steam another Lithuanian player has hit the deck with cramp. To loud boos. Strachan is unhappy with the antices of the away side.
Finally Hampden Park has come to life! They are roaring on the home side as they look to snatch three points they barely deserve. Lithuania are on the back foot. Scotland pressing for a winner!
There will be FIVE minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- GoalJames McArthurScotland
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 1 (90 mins - James McArthur) Lithuania 1. Scotland have equalised! A long throw in is flicked on by Hanley and McArthur is on hand to send a header/shoulder past the Lithuanian goalkeeper. Salvation!
Can Scotland mount something in the final moments of this game? It's not even as if they have been peppering the Lithuanian goal with shots. They have been so poor.
Scotland have endured some really disappointing nights in recent years, but this has to be right up there. They have been dismal. Lithuania look like coming away with three points here.
The Lithuanian defence, particularly the centre-back pairing, have been so solid throughout. They have dealt with everything that has come their way. Really impressive.
Remember how Strachan insisted before the match that this wasn't must-win? Well, surely it's a must-not-lose? Scotland would take a point from this now. Terrible stuff.
Lithuania's players are hitting the ground every couple minutes. I think every single player in green and yellow has had a bout of cramp. It's becoming a bit of a joke now.
Snodgrass is taking it upon himself to try and make things happen around the edge of the box. Him and Robertson are the two players carrying Scotland right now.
This is last saloon stuff for Scotland now. Marshall is being asked to punt the ball long from just inside his own half, with every single player camped on the edge of the Lithuania box.
This is really poor stuff from Scotland. They need to be slipping Griffiths into the channels, but instead they are just lumping balls into the box. Real lack of ideas.
GRIFFITHS SHOULD HAVE SCORED! Snodgrass' cross into the area split the two defenders and found the Celtic striker, but he directed his powerful header straight at the keeper.
I can't remember the home crowd at Hampden being this angry for quite some time. They know that they needed three points tonight and that doesn't look likely right now. Far from it.
Scotland need someone to turn the Lithuanian centre backs and get them running towards their own goal. The hope is that Griffiths will be the player to help them do that.
Lithuania are doing everything to wind down the clock now. They are taking their time over goal kicks, throw ins, freekicks, everything. Not surprising, really. I'd be doing that.
The problem for Scotland is that they don't just need one goal, they really need two. This is a must win match for them if they are to stand a chance of making it to Russia.
HUGE CHANCE FOR LITHUANIA! I think it was Slivka who shot wide of the Scotland goal, but it was a long ball right down the middle that completely caught out the home defence.
CHANCE FOR PATERSON! Bannan's corner kick delivery finds Paterson at the back post, but the Hearts full back can't get his header on target. Lithuania are still 1-0 up.
- OffMatt RitchieScotland
- OnLeigh GriffithsScotland
Indeed, there's the change for Scotland. Griffiths comes running to a roar from the Hampden crowd.
Strachan has got to go for this. It sounds like Griffiths will be coming on for Ritchie. Scotland are going to play the final 20 minutes of this game with two strikers up top.
The home crowd are really getting on the back of the Scotland players now. This isn't good enough from Strachan's side and they are letting them know. It's understandable.
As I said not so long ago, Robertson looks the only Scotland player likely to create something in the final third. He's the only one prepared to drive at the Lithuanian defence.
Surely we will see Leigh Griffiths at some point soon? The Celtic striker is still on the bench, yet Martin is offering nothing as the central striker. Strachan to hook him soon?
- OffArturas ZulpaLithuania
- OnKarolis ChvedukasLithuania
There's another change from the away side. Lithuania look comfortable the way things are right now.
The home fans are starting to get on the back of the Scotland players. They are running out of ideas. Only Robertson looks likely to create something. This is desperate stuff.
- OffVaidas SlavickasLithuania
- OnVytautas AndriuskeviciusLithuania
Lithuania make a change. Will they try to protect what they have now? This would be a great result for them.
WHAT A CHANCE FOR SCOTLAND! Robertson gets to the byline, with his cross palmed away by the goalkeeper. Forrest pounces on it but sends his shot inches wide. Close!
Scotland need to go for this now. They need three points from this match. Anything less than that would surely deal a critical blow to their hopes of making it to the World Cup.
Disaster for Scotland. They have been better in this second half, but that was some lovely football from Lithuania. They took their chance when it came to them. Great goal.
- GoalFiodor CernychLithuania
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Lithuania 1 (59 mins - Fiodar Cernych). The away side have taken the lead! Hanley was left standing by some excellent pass-and-go play around the edge of the box and Cernych smashed a finish past Marshall.
Forrest has been in exceptional form for Celtic this season and so Scotland will be hoping that the winger can bring some of that form to the final 58 minutes of this game.
- OffOliver BurkeScotland
- OnJames ForrestScotland
There's the second change of the match from Strachan. Forrest is coming on to replace Burke.
INCHES PAST THE POST! That was so close to the opener. Robertson curled a wicked ball into Martin, who glanced a header towards goal. However it flashed just past the far post.
- Yellow cardGrant HanleyScotland
What a strange decision! The defender stooped to get a head to it and Hanley is booked for a high foot. Bizarre.
This is much better from Scotland. They are on top and are pressing hard for an opener. There is an added drive to their play now. Lithuania are having to dig deep at the back.
- Yellow cardGeorgas FreidgeimasLithuania
Martin has been on the end of some rough treatment tonight and finally it earns someone a yellow card.
THAT WAS HEADING IN! Robertson and Snodgrass combine really well down the left side, with the latter set up for a shot on goal. It was heading in but a defender was on hand to clear to head away!
There's a lot more energy and drive to Scotland at the start of this second half. Burke and Ritchie are driving at the Lithuanian defence at every possible opportunity.
Indeed, it has been confirmed that Fletcher was withdrawn at half time due to an injury. He has picked up a thigh strain and so that is the reason the captain was hooked at the break.
MARSHALL MAKES THE SAVE! Lithuania create their best chance of the match so far, with Novikovas shooting across goal, but the Scotland goalkeeper makes the save.
- OffDarren FletcherScotland
- OnJames McArthurScotland
Strachan has made a change at the break, with Fletcher coming off for McArthur. Is that down to an injury?
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at Hampden Park! It's still goalless between Scotland and Lithuania.
What did you make of the first half from Hampden Park? Does Strachan need to make a change? Is it time to see Griffiths introduced from the bench? Tweet me!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Scotland 0-0 Lithuania. That was an extremely poor first half by Scotland. Lithuania have held their own, with the home side only creating a couple of chances so far.
Just one minute of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.
While Scotland have improved over the last 10 minutes Lithuania still look like they carry some threat when they come forward. The home team have been shaky at the back.
Indeed, Burke has now been moved to the left wing for the final few minutes of this first half. Clearly Strachan believes he could be a difference maker for Scotland this evening.
Paterson has looked quite suspect at right back for Scotland in this first half. Lithuania have had most of their joy down the left side and the Hearts man has been the source of that.
It feels like Scotland are finally beginning to build up a head of steam towards the end of this first half. But the Lithuanian defence hasn't really been tested all that much.
Burke is desperate to get himself involved in this game. The RB Leipzig man is now driving inside more often and looks to flick through Ritchie on goal. This time it's cleared.
BURKE GOES DOWN! The 19-year-old surges into the Lithuanian penalty area and goes down under the challenge of a defender, but the referee correctly shakes his head.
This has been a fairly insipid game from Scotland so far. The home crowd are starting to get frustrated. Their team have had so little in the way of goalscoring opportunities.
Scotland are almost caught out at the back. In the end it came to nothing, but Slivka was one of three Lithuanian players who beat the home side's offside trap, there.
BANNAN SHOT ON GOAL! The midfielder creates a couple yards of space for himself 25 yards out, but his shot is straight at the goalkeeper. Scotland's first shot on target of the night.
Lithuania look quite comfortable sitting deep for the moment and plugging gaps at the back before hitting out on the counter attack. This is going well for them so far.
Martin has come in for some rough treatment from the Lithuanian defenders. He feels he should have had at least one penalty kick, but the referee has waved away his claims.
Burke has been quiet so far. The £13 million man hasn't seen much of the ball and has found himself rather isolated out on the right wing. Might Strachan move him into the centre?
Most of what Scotland are doing well is coming through Snodgrass, with Ritchie also causing issues with deliveries into the penalty area. The hosts need to up their game.
Scotland have taken a grip of the contest again over the past 10 minutes or so, but there's still an uneasiness around Hampden at the moment. This isn't very comfortable at all.
Apologies for the sporadic updates over the past five minutes or so. Having some technical problems on our end. But don't worry. We've battered those gremlins into submission now.
MARTIN JUST WIDE! That was the first real chance of the night for Scotland. Snodgrass teased a wonderful cross for Martin, who got a volle away at goal. It flashed past the far post, though.
This has very quickly turned into a difficult evening for Scotland. It's difficult to tell what Strachan's tactics are. Lithuania are looking better and better with every passing minute.
Martin gets something on the ball in the nick of time. Scotland were exposed in the right back position and the Scotland centre-back was required to clear the danger under pressure.
That wasn't Ritchie's best. The Newcastle United man had the chance to shoot on goal from a freekick, but he couldn't clear the Lithuanian wall and Burke fouls trying to pounce on the deflection.
There's another cynical challenge from a Lithuania player, taking down Snodgrass as he surged through on goal.
SNODGRASS FREEKICK SHOT! The Hull City man lines up the set piece from the best part of 25 yards, but despite having the power on the effort it flashes past the target.
For the first time in the match Burke has the chance to stretch his legs and drive at Lithuania. He is eventually crowded out by three defenders, but Bannan mops up and wins a freekick.
ANOTHE HANLEY HEADER! Ritchie picks out the centre back with another excellent delivery from a freekick. Hanley meets this one better, but sends his header wide of the target.
- Yellow cardEgidijus VaitkunasLithuania
That was an extremely cynical challenge on Robertson. He got an arm in the face for his troubles.
The Hampden Park crowd get a little restless as Lithuania zip the passes around without much in the way of opposition. Scotland are starting to get frustrated already.
Burke has also kept his place in the startig lineup following the win over Malta. He became the most expensive Scottish player ever by moving to RB Leipzig in the summer. Plenty expected of him.
That was an easy enough save for Marshall. A corner kick was cleared to the edge of the box, with Slivka firing it back on goal, but there was no real venom in the effort.
Having said that, Lithuania are growing into this match. They are settling and starting to enjoy more of the match. Scotland need to be wary against this well-organised outfit.
Scotland have been the better team in the opening 10 minutes or so of this match, but they haven't exactly been camped on the edge of the opposition box. Strong start, though.
Snodgrass has become something of a talisman for Scotland, but this is his first appearance at Hampden since he suffered that terrible injury. He is hugely important.
It's been 10 years since Scotland started a qualification campaign with two wins and it was against Lithuania that they did that last. The omens are good for Strachan's side.
It looks like Snodgrass is the one to play off the central striker, with Burke playing wide. That's different to how Scotland started in their opening group game against Malta last month.
HANLEY HEADER! Ritchie stages a freekick delivery up to the back post where he finds Hanley, but the Scotland centre back can only direct his header wide of the near post.
Strachan has attempted to play down this match in he build-up, but make no mistake that this is a must-win match for Scotland. They can't be dropping points at home to Lithuania.
- 1st Half
The match is under way at Hampden Park! It's Scotland against Lithuania.
Lithuania started their World Cup qualification campaign with a draw against Slovenia, while Scotland started with a 5-1 thumping of Malta away from home. Can they build momentum from that?
Gordon Strachan has named an unchanged team for this match. Leigh Griffiths is on the bench with Chris Martin starting up front for Scotland. That's the biggest team news.
TEAM NEWS: Scotland - Marshall, Paterson, R.Martin, Hanley, Robertson, Snodgrass, Bannan, D.Fletcher, Ritchie, Burke, C.Martin. /// Lithuania - Setkus, Vaitkunas, Freidgeimas, Girdvainis, Slavickas, Zulpa, Kuklys, Cerynch, Novikovas, Valskis, Slivka.
