De Laurentiis appears to have changed his mind over the date and venue having agreed the details of the match.
“Can you explain to me what is the point of going to China a few days before the start of the season?," De Laurentiis was quoted as saying.
“No, Napoli will not go to Beijing. It’s a crazy journey and pointless stress.”
It has been claimed the Napoli president spoke to his Juventus counterpart Andrea Agnelli, Serie A chief and coach Walter Mazzarri as he tries to find support for his idea of a two-legged match possibly in Italy.
The Italian Super Cup traditionally opens the Italian season and is contested between the league winners and Coppa Italia victors.
