Dossena, 30, has found some of his best form since returning to Italy two years ago following a disappointing spell at Liverpool.
The former Udinese defender, who can also play as a winger and currently sits on the left of Napoli’s 3-4-3 formation, is being tipped as a possible replacement for Djamel Mesbah who has struggled since moving to the San Siro.
Agent Roberto La Florio said: “I spoke to Napoli, and they have had a chat with Milan, but Dossena’s contract lasts until 2014 so it is up to them.
“If Napoli decide to let him go then there will be plenty of opportunities, as he plays in a difficult position to fill.”
Milan are undergoing a rebuilding process after losing out on the Serie A title to Juventus.
They have released several veteran players, including Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf, Alessandro Nesta, Mark van Bommel, Gianluca Zambrotta and Pippo Inzaghi, and have signed the likes of Riccardo Montolivo and Bakaye Traore.
