Full time! Reading remain in search of their first Premier League win and some tough fixtures await. They will see this as a wasted opportunity but Norwich came just as close at times to finding the all-elusive winner.
After the hosts fail to work anything from an attacking throw conceded by Whittaker to snuff out McAnuff's run down the left, Tettey embarks on a one-man counter which ends when he drags a shot well wide.
Pilkington is unable to keep an overhit cross-field pass in play but Reading are running out of time to get the ball upfield in search of a rare win.
Three minutes for a possible late winner...
Pogrebnyak gives away a free-kick as the delivery arrives in the Norwich area.
Bennett gives away a free-kick and Shorey will lump one into the box from inside his own half.
Turner is clutching his left shoulder after an awkward aerial tussle with the Pog. Norwich do have one switch remaining.
Captain Holt, who hasn't had a great shift, makes way for Steve Morison. Snodgrass will also be withdrawn, Elliott Bennett the man on in his place.
Norwich are finally about to make their first change...
Snodgrass hesitates and loses out to McAnuff, but wins a free-kick by making a meal out of contact between the two as they chase the resulting loose ball.
Johnson again back to cut out work between Le Fondre and Kebe just inside the penalty area. Norwich come straight forward and Pilkington from the left has his cross met by Holt! Tame header from very close range straight into Federici's arms.
Holt cleverly backheels for Pilkington to latch on from 25 yards out and fire over.
Tettey strides forward on the left but his cross attempt, even when not compared to the high standards of left-sided deliveries set by Garrido and Hoolahan, is atrocious.
Hoolahan gets a yard of pace on Gunter and sends in another good Norwich delivery from the left which Snodgrass is too off-balance under pressure from his marker to get a clean header on.
The cross from the free-kick fails to yield a chance and before the goal kick is taken, on comes Adam Le Fondre for Roberts. Still no changes employed by Hughton.
Roberts is brought down by Turner on the left-hand byline and that's a yellow card.
...now Garrido gets a ball in but Holt can only head it towards goal, rather than at the target.
Snodgrass is unable to connect with a Hoolahan floater from the left but Norwich are still in possession in Reading's final third...
Kebe on the prowl again from the right but he makes the wrong choice in not pulling back. His cross-shot-whatever from the byline is well guarded and Ruddy holds at the near post.
Turner tries to head the corner across goal but Reading get it away.
Hoolahan puts Pilkington through on the left-hand byline but his attempt at a pull-back is put behind by Morrison!
The hosts burst forward again but Gunter's early ball is a waste. Ruddy claims.
HOLT! Should have found the target with the header! Lovely Garrido ball in meets his stride forward perfectly but the skipper arches his neck a little too much to try and convert it.
Kebe with a low centre from the right to follow-up... half cleared! Now Kebe again with an aerial delivery... and it bounces off the top of the crossbar!
Shorey to strike this... but hits the wall.
Mazy run from Kebe now and he draws the foul from Tettey, less than 25 yards out and smack bang central to Ruddy's goal.
McAnuff cuts inside Whittaker on the left... AND Hoolahan too... and almost gets the opener with a superb curling effort which sails narrowly over.
Now Holt fails to make contact a second time, but with the ball bouncing on the ground near his feet this one's far more down to him.
Now a close call at the opposite end as a Reading free-kick flashes past a sea of bodies and goes inches wide of the far post. Morrison closest to getting a crucial touch on it.
Almost, almost, a superb in-swinging cross by Hoolahan after a short throw routine. But it just doesn't dip in time for Holt to get his barnet on it.
Shorey almost wriggles his way into a goalscoring position from the left but after giving three defenders a hard time, Johnson comes back to pick clean the bones.
Federici makes a routine catch for a Whittaker set piece from the right-hand side just inside the Reading half.
Double Reading sub as McDermott looks to unlock this fixture: Hunt makes way for Pavel Pogrebnyak while Jimmy Kebe is on for the impressive McCleary.
McAnuff with a dangerous low cross from the left which Turner is at a stretch to intercept and hack away.
There are three goalless games but two away sides lead across the board in the Premier League.
Pair of corners number four: Reading are unable to create a chance at goal from either of these this time.
The Royals are soon countering the slow Canaries build, however, and McCleary almost picks out McAnuff perfectly with a floated delivery from the right. Bassong puts it behind for a corner.
Hunt is furious that a free-kick decision in the Norwich half goes against him.
Brilliant challenge from Gorkss as Holt is about to return a give-and-go to Hoolahan after the Irishman and Tettey had worked well together to advance the ball forward.
Garrido the man who had the last touch, but the corner is dealt with.
Great play by Roberts to collect a ball forward and he almost beats two defenders to have a dig at goal from eight yards, instead settling for winning a corner.
Hunt trips Snodgrass as the pace of the match slows in the middle of the park.
Hoolahan wide from the 'D'! Reading were unforgivably casual in trying to play their way out of danger from a long ball upfield, allowing the midfielder to have a dig from central outside the box.
Another cross from Shorey, this time from open play, goes harmlessly behind for a goal kick.
The hosts go straight on the attack and win an early corner. Bassong ultimately heads a good McAnuff delivery clear after the set piece fails to connect with a team-mate.
Reading get the second half underway.

There have been 18 goals in the last two games here, but there are none at half-time between Reading and Norwich in a solid if unspectacular 45 minutes of football.
One minute added on to the first half.
Bassong loses the ball in his own final third AGAIN, but Turner heads the McCleary cross out of danger.
Shorey again with the long delivery but Ruddy bravely comes out to make the punch clear above a cluster of players.
Roberts is brought down on the right wing by Holt, who has been getting about.
Possession % so far: Reading 52-48 Norwich.
Morrison clears the Snodgrass delivery and then Tettey's second attempt.
In a recurring pattern, the corner leads to another. That's three pairs of flag kicks by my count and the away side's first.
Whittaker strides forward and has a dig from 20... it comes off a hooped shirt and now Norwich have a corner.
Roberts whiffs an attempt to set Tabb free on the right-hand side.
Four goals so far across the Premier League board, and three of them have come at Arsenal-Fulham...
Tettey was the man tripped there.
Holt of all people is the man back to clear at the near post before McAnuff gives away a foul as the visitors recover possession.
Roberts skips past Turner but Whittaker makes the rescue for another Reading corner.
Johnson aims to pick out Snoddy with a route one ball but Federici claims.
Norwich clear their lines but here come the hosts again. McAnuff's cross is half-cleared only as far as McCleary on the edge of the box, but his attempt to skip past Garrido sees the ball hit him last as the defender makes a tackle and it goes out for a goal kick.
Shorey's delivery leads to another one from the other side. McAnuff comes up for a short option but is dismissed by the left-back.
Bassong hesitates on the ball by his own byline and Hunt picks his pocket! The angle is tight so he tees up Roberts to force another corner!
It doesn't take the away side long to attack from the return of possession and it's Hoolahan with a cross from the left to meet Snodgrass... over the bar.
Hunt is flagged offside as he runs onto Leigertwood's central through pass.
Shorey picks out Gorkss in the box, but under heavy pressure the defender can only head off-target.
Hunt's headed flick-on just outside the box lacks direction but McAnuff is subsequently caught by the stray arm of Snodgrass and Reading have a free-kick in a similar position to that of 15' only from the left.
Hoolahan almost in now but Morrison doesn't gamble on whether Federici will make it and clears.
Hoolahan commandeers the ball from colleague Snodgrass in Reading's final third, but after a few nice jinks to evade tackles his tee-up for Pilkington is skied over the bar.
McAnuff attempts a central dribble but is outnumbered and dispossessed.
Now Roberts lures a foul from Whittaker on the left flank, from which McAnuff almost picks out Tabb inside the box... Hunt picks up the loose ball and squares to McCleary, who fires well over.
Garrido is the man to take a long free-kick from his own half in search of a Norwich head in the packed box, but it's cleared safely.
Hunt goes to ground inside the box as McAnuff sends in an inverted cross from the right. Replays show that his contact with Garrido was extremely minimal.
Shorey's set piece is comfortably headed out of danger by Turner.
Now the midfielder is dropped by Bassong on the right-hand corner of the box and it'll be a decent free-kick position for the Royals.
McCleary has a crack from well over 20 yards! Ruddy has to beat it away with both palms! A very fierce strike which the keeper had no chance of holding.
Almost a Norwich counter now, but McAnuff does well to track back and stop it before it can really start by mugging Tettey.
Another offside against Roberts after Hoolahan had invited a break by conceding possession with a sloppy pass.
The first Premier League goal of the day is in the back of the net - and it has come at the Emirates Stadium. Find out who has put who ahead with our six-game multiplex!
Now another set piece from the opposite corner after Gorkss is prevented a header to Shorey's equally dangerous delivery by Garrido. The visitors again manage to clear their lines.
Leigertwood whips in a tasty driven cross from the right which Bassong has to put behind for the first corner of the game.
After some attention from the trainer, McCleary will be okay.
McCleary lands hard on his shoulder going up for an aerial challenge with Garrido.
Offside against Roberts as he chases Hunt's decent flick-on.
Now Snodgrass has a speculative attempt closed down by Shorey.
Tettey sends in a raking diagonal pass which Hoolahan also meets with a good run to evade his marker.
Reading coming into this not only hoping for a first win but also with the fewest goals to their name of all the 20 PL sides (eight).
Johnson concedes a free-kick on Leigertwood just inside his own half but the long delivery into the box is handily cleared.
A minute's silence is observed ahead of Remembrance Day, and Chris Foy gets the match started with Norwich kicking off the first half in their black change strips.

...and just 10 days later in the League Cup, the Gunners sent the Royals packing after 12 goals and 120 minutes in an absolutely surreal thriller.
Both sides have raised eyebrows this season when up against Arsenal, in two very contrasting manners. First, City produced a great result at Carrow Road in the league on October 20...
The last time the Canaries made the trip to the Madejski Stadium was almost two years ago exactly: November 13 2010, in the Championship, and the somewhat harsh dismissal of skipper Holt allowed Reading to fight back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3. Will we see another goal feast today?
Reading and Norwich first did battle in the FA Cup in 1909 but this will be their first-ever match in the top flight.
Chris Hughton on Norwich's recent form: “I’m pleased for the players. They deserve it. It is easy to say we should have more points but I very much believe it. You felt for the team when they put in performances and didn’t get what they deserved."
Brian McDermott: “This is the Premier League, you don’t expect to go 1-0 up and everybody to go ‘oh ok the game’s over’ it isn’t like that. It isn’t necessarily concentration that is the problem, I’ve been through situations; when I first took the job we were drawing an awful lot of games and couldn’t win."
