Lucas's run-in with police prompted by wife

After their encouraging display against Manchester City, Liverpool's players must be raring to get back to training at Melwood on Tuesday following their post-match day off.

But one of the Reds stars is not looking forward to getting back together with his team-mates: Lucas Leiva, who is set to be the butt of all the training ground jokes.

The Brazilian midfielder's game on Sunday was ruined when he was forced off with an injury.

But the Liverpool staff weren't the only ones worried about a thigh injury that could sideline the player for two months: his wife, model Ariana Lima Bonfanti, was also concerned about her hubby's health.

Being unable to get to the bench to ask him if he was okay, she instead asked one of the policemen on duty at Anfield to go and quiz the 25-year-old star about what had happened.

It was a touching thought and an ingenious way to ask the question, but you can see what Lucas thought of it in his reaction: he waved the policeman away angrily, while his team-mates chuckled away at her antics.

Lucas continued to watch the rest of the match with his team-mates, while the policeman - no doubt nonplussed at being dismissed rather harshly - trundled off to report back.
