FT: Liverpool 0-1 Southampton (agg 0-2). That's it. Saints are off to Wembley in pursuit of only their second-ever trophy win. They really should have won by a more comfortable margin after missing plenty of chances over the two legs, but they defended their lead heroically at Anfield, and got that deserved late goal through Long. Liverpool really weren't good enough on the night. Thanks for joining us. Goodnight!

What a moment. Liverpool players were still arguing with referee Atkinson over the penalty he didn't give as Sims raced clear before playing in Long, who took one touch and fired into the bottom corner.
GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL! Liverpool 0-1 Southampton (agg 0-2). Long scores after a swift counter to send Saints to Wembley!
Four minutes of added time here. Origi is down, looking for a penalty, but again those appeals are waved away.
Sims fortunate to not concede a corner. Lallana is furious with the referee.
Late change for Liverpool as Georginio Wijnaldum replaces Coutinho.
Liverpool are just going from side to side, and back again. Saints have everybody back. Yoshida again with the block.
Forster doing all he can to time waste over this free-kick. Crowd getting restless...
Two appeals for handball go up from the Kop, but referee Atkinson is having none of it. The ball was pinging around in the box a little, but Saints do manage to get it clear.
Well they could...
Bit of a gamble here, as Puel makes his final change. Redmond is replaced by Josh Sims. Remember, if Liverpool do score, we could be heading for extra time.
Finally, we have a Liverpool change, as Can makes way to be replaced by Divock Origi.
CLOSE! Coutinho cuts inside, fires at goal, it looks to be heading into the far corner, but the ball flashes just wide.
Liverpool probing and probing, but Yoshida is the latest to head clear. Superb defending.
Can feeds Firmino, gets it back, but then overhits another pass and the ball runs out for a goal kick. Cue exasperation all round.
Really poor cross from Lallana as he whips the ball straight into the waiting arms of Forster.
Milner tries to get some retribution on Cedric, as he flies into the tackle, but gets the ball cleanly.
Cedric Soares and Milner tangle in the box, faint appeals come from the stands, more in desperation than anything else, and the referee is rightly having none of it.
He would say that...
Saints really do deserve to hold on here. They have been so solid at the back. Will they rue those first-half missed chances?
Redmond has been superb this evening. Again he carries the attack to Liverpool at pace, feeds Hojbjerg, whose effort is deflected over.
Coutinho arrives in the box, but cannot connect cleanly. Saints still hanging on here.
MISS! Great football from Liverpool. Superb cross from Henderson into the path of Sturridge, who side-foots over on the volley. It is coming...
Lallana getting his leg strapped on the touchline. Liverpool need him! Southampton still very much a threat on the counter.
Better intensity from Liverpool. Klopp is getting animated on the touchline too, rousing the crowd.
MISS! You'd have put your mortgage on him. Milner plays a great ball into the middle, Can diverts it into the path of Sturridge, who slices an acrobatic effort over from six yards.
Ward-Prowse cannot continue, so on comes Pierre=Emile Hojbjerg.
Break in play as Ward-Prowse is receiving treatment after picking up a knock going for the same ball as Long.
It certainly was...
Sturridge gets on the end of Alexander-Arnold's cross but his weak effort fails to hit the target and the ball runs out for a goal kick.
NO GOAL! The crowd think it is over the line, but Martin Atkinson's watch says no. Forster does incredibly well to claw the ball out, after fumbling Can's shot from the edge of the box. Needed all of his frame to reach back and fling an arm at the ball on the line!
Great play from Lallana to get himself into a good position, he pulls it back for Coutinho, who throws a dummy before firing an effort at goal, but again it is blocked and Forster gathers the loose ball.
Milner swings the ball in from the Liverpool right but Yoshida is there to head clear for the hosts.
Great cross from Ward-Prowse, Karius comes, gets something on it with Redmond lurking with intent, and just about scrambles it clear.
Early corner for the visitors but Ward-Prowse's cross runs all the way through the penalty area and away from danger.
One change for the second half, with Shane Long replacing an injured Rodriguez for the Saints.
Saints get us back under way here. Can they hang on? A second goal might kill off the Liverpool fight. Find out what happens right here!
Plenty of the ball, very little end product...
HT: Liverpool 0-0 Southampton (agg 0-1). The home side have offered very little as an attacking threat, and seem worryingly short of ideas. The Saints should actually have taken the lead on the night, but missed two glorious chances from point-black range. We are so finely poised, it really could go either way.
Ward-Prowse has a standing strike at goal from the edge of the box, but that is always going wide. One additional minute here.
You can se why this Liverpool team have won just once since the turn of the year. Very flat so far.
Alexander-Arnold's cross is hooked on at the near post for Can, who heads the down into the six-yard box looking for a red shirt. However, Stephens is well positioned to clear for the visitors once again.
Firmino tries to find Sturridge, but again the pass is wayward. Sturridge has to do more. No other man in red has touched the ball less.
CHANCE! Again, Saints should have scored! Brilliant from Redmond, again, as he skips past two men, pulls it back for Davis, who can get a shot at goal at the second attempt, but blazes over from a great position.
What a moment in the match. The crowd have reacted, and try to lift their men.
CHANCE! What an opportunity to make it 2-0 on aggregate! Tadic the guilty party as he side-foots straight at Karius from point-blank range. Great save, but the Liverpool stopper should have been beaten from there. Tremendous work from Redmond to set up the chance.
The ball is swung into the Southampton box again but there's nobody in a red shirt to get on the end of it. Southampton clear their lines easily.
Better football from Liverpool down the right involving Firmino, but Saints force the hosts out.
There is a real lack of urgency here from Liverpool. With such a rookie in the heart of the Saints defence, Klopp's men really need to put on more pressure.
The terraces share the sentiment...
Great work down the left from Redmond, his cross is only half cleared, the ball falls to Davis on the edge of the box, but Milner blocks the skipper's effort. Swift football from the visitors.
Coutinho delivers a free-kick into the middle but it is easy for Forster to come and gather.
Great pass from Coutinho into the feet of Firmino, but the Brazilian miscontrols and another attack breaks down.
Great defending from Stephens to head clear in his own six-yard box. The superb cross from Alexander-Arnold caused plenty of problems.
Lallana tries to thread the ball through for Emre Can, but Southampton clear again. Crowd getting frustrated.
Coutinho plays the ball out to Alexander-Arnold, who gets a cross into the box. Lallana's waiting at the far post but Ward-Prowse is back to head clear for Saints.
Easy so far...
Great hold-up play from Rodriguez, who gathers the ball and feeds Tadic down the right, but the Serbian's pass is blocked out for a corner.
James Ward-Prowse whips a free-kick into the middle, but that is easy for Loris Karius to come and gather.
Roberto Firmino is the next player to find the target, but his effort from the edge of the area is also straight at Forster.
Poor from Ryan Bertrand as he delays the pass far too long, allowing Lallana to nip in, he feeds Coutinho, who plays it into Sturridge, takes a touch and fires at goal, but it is straight at Fraser Forster.
Liverpool still struggling to find their rhythm. Lallana is drifting inside, but finding no space.
Coutinho this time looks to slide the ball into the feet of Sturridge but Stephens steps in to make an interception.
Liverpool look a little flat. Coutinho is trying to pull the strings, but to no avail so far.
Ryan Bertand is offering a real outlet outside of Dusan Tadic for the Saints. Rodriguez will be hoping that avenue can provide him the service he needs.
Down the other end, Jay Rodriguez threads a lovely ball through for Nathan Redmond, who elects to try another pass, despite being through on goal! He gets it all wrong and Liverpool clear.
Superb vision from Philippe Coutinho, who tries to clip a pass into the path of Trent Alexander-Arnold, but there is just too much on it. Goal kick.
Oriol Romeu is there, as he often does, breaking up an attack. He also signed a new deal this week.
Adam Lallana breaks down the left, pulls the ball back, but it evades everyone. Jack Stephens is looking very competent for the Saints.
Jay Rodriguez is flagged offside as the visitors try to break. Steven Davis then breaks up a Liverpool counter.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool are enjoying all the possession early on. They are in no rush. Two goals wins it for them, after all.
KICK OFF! What an occasion. Can Liverpool overturn the one-goal deficit? They get us under way here. Martin Atkinson is our man in the middle.
STAT ATTACK! The Reds have won three of their four home League Cup matches against Southampton, most recently a 3-1 victory in November 2002 with goals from Patrik Berger, El Hadji Diouf and Milan Baros. Southampton have won their last three away League Cup matches against top-flight opposition, defeating Arsenal (2014/15 and 2016/17) and Stoke (2014/15); prior to this run, they’d won just two of the previous 27. Only Aston Villa (82) and Arsenal (78) have won more home League Cup matches than Liverpool (75).
Faith in the rookie...
An interesting take on the returning hero...
Cometh the hour...
Some rather good news pre-match for those en route to Anfield...
Saints boss Claude Puel isn't getting carried away: "Southampton manager Claude Puel: "It’s an exciting game. It's difficult, of course. We know this team. For the second leg, I would like another good result, with one goal more for example. It will be important to have strong spirit, quality, and to take our chances and to try to do a fantastic job."
Jurgen Klopp has issued an impassioned rallying cry pre-match: "We are Liverpool, a really good football-playing side, and we don’t enjoy the job we have to do. It is not as though we are a team at the bottom of the league that has to defend 80 per cent or 90 per cent of the time. In most of our games we are dominant, so we have to enjoy this, even when we don’t come through after five minutes.”
Reds in the house...
Huge blow for the Saints as they are without injured Virgil van Dijk, who is replaced by Jack Stephens. The England U21 defender is one of two changes, with Steve Davis also coming in.
Klopp really seems to be going for it. The German supremo has made four changes from the side that were surprisingly beaten by Swansea on Saturday with Loris Karius, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip and Daniel Sturridge all coming in.
TEAMS - LIVERPOOL: Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Henderson, Can, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge... Subs: Mignolet, Moreno, Lucas, Origi, Klavan, Woodburn, Wijnaldum. /// SOUTHAMPTON: Forster, Cedric, Yoshida, Stephens, Bertrand, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Tadic, Redmond, Rodriguez... Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of this EFL Cup semi-final second leg as Liverpool welcome Southampton to Anfield with a 1-0 margin to overcome to reach the first domestic final of the season. Saints are on the verge of their first cup final appearance in 13 years, and their first League Cup final in 38 years, but Jurgen Klopp's men are anything but beaten. This is the fifth time Liverpool have gone into a League Cup second leg with a deficit – however, on the last two occasions they have recovered to reach the final, doing so against Crystal Palace in 2000/01 and Sheffield United in 2002/03. I'm Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!
