Coach Miroslav Djukic has confirmed that he will leave Real Valladolid at the end of the season after two years with the club.

The former centre-back has returned Valladolid to the top flight and this term has successfully led them away from the relegation fight, achieving mathematical safety with weeks of the season remaining.

His work has reportedly earned him admirers elsewhere, with former side Valencia said to be lining him up as a possible replacement for Ernesto Valverde.

Rumours have been that 47-year-old was considering his future and, despite reports that Valladolid were to offer him a three-to-four-year extension, he has told reporters today that he intends to leave in the summer.

“I am not clear yet on where I am going. I’m just here to say that I will not be here,” Djukic said.

“I’m leaving because I think I will have a new project, which I currently do not have.”

It is believed that Djukic informed the players of his decision yesterday and has bought himself out of the final year of his Valladolid contract.

Prospective Valencia president Amadeo Salvo has apparently also contacted Djukic to ask that he delays any decision on his future until the Mestalla outfit know Valverde’s intentions at the club.
