Lovrek has signed a one-year contract with the A-League club after transferring from Chinese Super League side Qingdao Jonoon.
The 32-year-old forward was a former Croatian youth international and has had a nomadic career, playing in Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Belgium as well as his homeland.
He was a key member of Jeonbuk Motors when the South Korean side won the 2011 Asian Champions League.
Lovrek, who is due to start pre-season training with the team on July 16, becomes Sydney FC's fourth visa player, with the club allowed five overseas signings.
