Violence fears see Blackburn friendly scrapped

Blackburn's pre-season friendly with Dutch club NEC Nijmegen scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been cancelled.

The decision, taken by the police and the local authorities in Nijmegen, follows the advanced threat of violence between the two sets of supporters.

A statement on the Championship club's official website said: "Both clubs wish to express their disappointment that such a decision has been necessary."
