Portuguese ref given final
UEFA has confirmed that Portuguese referee Pedro Proenca will take charge of the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Chelsea on Saturday.
Proenca, 41, a financial director in his day job, has been chosen to officiate club football's biggest match.
He has taken charge of over 65 UEFA matches in the past, including the 2004 European U19 Championship final, and two Portuguese cup finals.
He officiated Manchester United's 4-1 win over Schalke in the second leg of the 2010-11 Champions League semi-final as well as five Champions League contests this season.
Proenca will also go to Euro 2012 as Portugal's nominated referee.
His assistants at the Allianz Arena on Saturday night will be compatriots Ricardo Santos and Bertino Miranda.
Spaniard Carlos Velasco Carballo is the fourth official and the two additional assistants have been named as Duarte Gomes and Jorge Sousa.
