Bundesliga 'on a par' with La Liga
The Bundesliga is at least as attractive as La Liga, where the interest is limited to the Real Madrid-Barcelona rivalry, said the president of the German Football Federation.
Wolfgang Niersbach believes that, while Spain's big two have more star power, the more competitive nature of the German league makes it an enticing experience for viewers at home and abroad.
"In the Spanish championship, the suspense is reduced to the question: who will be champion – Real Madrid or Barcelona? Here, it is more open," Niersbach told Sky Sports News in Germany.
"It is true that Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are the favourites, but who knows whether or not Borussia Moenchengladbach or Schalke will finish ahead of them?"
Over the past decade Stuttgart (2007) and Wolfsburg (2009) have both won the German title in addition to Dortmund, who recently retained their title as part of their league and cup double, and giants Bayern Munich.
Over the same period, only Valencia's triumph in 2004 has broken the hegemony enjoyed by Real, current champions, and Barca.
