RadioShack-Nissan’s Danish rouleur Fuglsang has penned a three-year deal taking him through to the end of the 2015 season.
He took General Classification victories in Luxembourg and Austria this season, and has won three Tour of Denmark titles and the 2009 Tour of Slovenia.
Fuglsang’s biggest Grand Tour win came at last year’s Vuelta a Espana, where he won the first Team Time Trial with Leopard Trek.
Team Manager Giuseppe Martinelli said: “Our agreement with Fuglsang is a cornerstone of Pro Team Astana’s strategy for 2013. With him, Vincenzo Nibali and Janez Brajkovic, we have got three excellent leaders for competing in next year’s three Grand Tours. He is still a young rider who can give his best in our team.”
Sprinter Guardini, 23, has signed a two-year contract and joins from Farnese Vini-Selle Italia in his homeland after impressing with a stage 18 victory at the Giro d’Italia this year.
He also won six stages and the points title at the Tour de Langkawi this year, and has won stages in Qatar, Turkey and Portugal.
“We have taken on Guardini because we want to compete on all fronts, and he is without doubt the sprinter we were missing,” Martinelli added.
“He is young, but in two years as a professional with Farnese he has already picked up 21 wins. I am sure he will rise to new and more important achievements from next year onwards.
“We have got excellent riders in our ranks – Jacopo Guarnieri, Tanel Kangert and Andriy Grivko to name just a few – who will give him support and put him in a position to compete with the best sprinters in the world.”
