Mundine ditches Mayweather gym
Anthony Mundine's preparations ahead of his first bout in the United States have hit a snag with the 37-year-old forced to relocate gymnasiums.
Just days from Sunday's fight against American Bronco McKart in Las Vegas, Mundine has had to move out of Floyd Mayweather's gym and into the aerobics studio in his hotel due to heatwave conditions.
It means Mundine has had to alter his training program and the former rugby league player admitted he hadn't ruled out his opponent trying nefarious means to undermine his preparations.
"The gym I've been training at hit 50 degrees over the weekend. It's getting too close to the fight to have your energy sapped like that," Mundine said.
"I'm not sure if it's a ploy but they refuse to turn on the air conditioning so, rather than get frustrated, my team has decided to finalise our preparation from the hotel.
"I'm not fazed at all - I've just got to make sure I'm right for what is arguably the most important fight of my life."
The development is the latest worry for Mundine after he was reportedly taunted during a sparring session at Mayweather's gym earlier this week for his controversial comments in 2001 in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Mundine takes on McKart, a former WBO light-middleweight title holder, at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas and is hoping to use the fight to break into the lucrative US market with a bout against undefeated superstar Mayweather already earmarked as his ultimate aim.
