Dereck Chisora has had his boxing licence withdrawn indefinitely following a hearing with the British Boxing Board of Control.

The London heavyweight was involved in a spat with David Haye in the press conference following his world title fight against Vitali Klitschko in Munich.

Chisora had also slapped the world champion Klitschko at the weigh-in, and spat at his brother and fellow champion Wladimir in the moments before the fight.

Board secretary Robert Smith said: "The board have decided Dereck Chisora is not a fit and proper person to hold a licence and have withdrawn it with immediate effect."

The decision prevents Chisora fighting in Britain, though he could theoretically box abroad.

"His licence got withdrawn and what will happen now is we'll consider whether to appeal the decision," Chisora's promoter Frank Warren said after the Cardiff hearing.

Warren and Chisora have 14 days to appeal the verdict.

Chisora added only: "Three letters - MGM - here I come."

The words appear to refer to the famous MGM arena in Las Vegas, which has hosted numerous high-profile boxing contests. If Chisora were to fight in Las Vegas, the BBCC's verdict would not affect him - he would only need to be granted a licence by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The boxer had already been banned indefinitely by the World Boxing Council for what it called "one of the worst behaviours ever by a professional" after he lost on points to their heavyweight champion.

Smith said that the BBBC could not punish Haye for his part in proceedings because, having retired from the sport, he no longer held a licence.

However, he added that should Haye reverse his decision and apply for a licence, his role in the brawl would be taken into consideration when they decide whether to grant him one.
